Seventh-grade squad picks up the split

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Over the past week, Punxsy's seventh-grade boys' basketball team earned a split in a pair of tough games against DuBois and Ridgway.

Last Friday, the Chucks picked up a come-from-behind 23-22 victory over the Beavers by outscoring DuBois 12-6 in the final quarter.

While Punxsutawney was hosting the sixth-grade basketball tournament Jan. 21-22, a team of third-grade girls' basketball players traveled to compete in the Penns Manor basketball tournament and saw great success, finishing with a 3-1 record. The girls worked hard to reach their 3-1 record, Ben White, who submitted the above photo, said. Pictured (from left) are Ryley Casaday, Riley Franklin, Olivia Roberts, Abby Stello, Katelyn Griebel, Murphy White, Riley Presloid and Sarah Weaver.
