PUNXSUTAWNEY — In football, you have players that are the key to the team's success on offense or defense. The Punxsy football team saw one of its key players, Jamie Bush, post a "monster year" in his final one donning a Chucks uniform, on both offense and defense this fall.
The Punxsy Most Valuable Player, Bush, earned All-Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference Large School notarity at both fullback and linebacker along with teammates center Jordan London, defensive end Dan McLain, wide receiver Clayton Dale and slot back Dakota Byers.

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Most athletic teams take on a theme to their seasons, but the majority of the time they are left unfulfilled.
The Punxsy Lady Chucks volleyball did not let its "Holding the Rope" theme go by the way side but applied it and made it become a reality with the District IX AA championship to its credit.
The Lady Chucks celebrated their many successes and optimisms of the future on Sunday night at the New Anchor Inn in Punxsy at their season banquet.

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Most people like to sit around in their most comfortable chair or at a table with friends in their spare time, but one Punxsy resident, Matt Bish, likes to slam his friends through them.
An avid professional wrestling fan his entire life, Matt Bish got involved in independent wrestling leagues back in 2002 when his mother, Wendy Bish, introduced him to a colleague, Christine Mancini, who wrestled for the Allied Powers Wrestling Federation (APWF), a now defunct wrestling league. Mancini introduced Bish to Ken "Bad Bubba" Brewer Jr., who was the APWF promoter at the time.

The Lady Chucks celebrated their hard work and honored the team's senior athletes and Most Valuable Player in their Thursday night season banquet held at the Chestnut Grove Independent Church.

PUNXSUTAWNEY — In a low-scoring gridiron battle on a chilly Tuesday night, the Jammin' Juniors ran 'Reitz' past the Super Seniors, 8-6, in the annual Powder Puff flag-football game held at Jack F. LaMarca Stadium.
Juniors twins Emily and Ashley Reitz combined for their team's touchdown and two-point conversion runs with 10:47 left in the game for a rare Junior Class win.
The Juniors defense stopped Super Senior Chelsea Engeholm three yards short on the game-tying two-point conversion run attempt to keep it 8-6 with 1:42 left in the game.

KANE — Despite a valiant fourth quarter comeback, the Brookville Raiders football team fell to the Kane Wolves, 35-34, in a District IX AA semifinal overtime heartbreaker Friday night in Kane.
Back-to-back touchdown runs from running back Zach Vroman in the fourth quarter helped the Raiders establish their first lead of the night. With the score at 28-21 and 1:59 left on the clock, the Wolves took over from their own 28-yard line.

HYDE — Despite every no-contest prediction for the Friday night football sub-regional playoff, the Punxsy Chucks scored 0the most points in seven weeks against the undefeated Clearfield Bison to give the host all it could handle.
Clearfield, though, had the answer to the battle-tough Punxsy team to take away the hard-fought 38-18 victory.
Trailing 24-0 after one play in the second half, the Chucks gained their stride with the game's next two scoring drives.
