RIDGWAY — Mission accomplished! The Punxsy boys' cross country team set its season goal of reclaiming the District IX title and made it become a reality with a complete team effort on Saturday afternoon in Ridgway.
RIDGWAY — After falling just short the past two seasons, the Lady Chucks captured a convincing District IX cross country crown on Saturday in Ridgway.
Punxsy ran away with first by 28 points, 31-59 over runner-up Clearfield. The two-time defending champion Bradford was third with 64 points, while St. Marys completed the field with 67 points in fourth.
“I certainly thought we had an excellent chance of winning, but I surprised at the margin of victory,” admitted Punxsy coach George Wehrle. “The girls proved they were for sure the best team in the district this year.”

Punxsy emerged as District IX AA champions with a team score of 31.

BROOKVILLE — The Karns City Gremlins spoiled the Brookville Raiders football team's Senior Night with a 45-20 win Friday night.
The Gremlins diverse running game gave the Raider defense fits all night, putting up 311 total rushing yards.
"They're fast and we're not," said Chris Dworek, Raider varsity coach. "We had some things open, but penalties hurt us more than usual, missed execution hurt us more than usual because they're tough. They're fast, and it's more painful when you play teams like that," he said.
