PUNXSUTAWNEY â The Punxsy middle school cross country runners have been showing great progress this fall.
The young harriers had two runners, Brady Young and Alexis Vite, in the top 10 at last Saturday's Ridgway Invitational before closing the home slate with a good showing Tuesday afternoon.
Last weekend on the boys' side, Young ran to a sixth place finish on the 1.7-mile middle school course. His time of 10:17 was fast enough to earn him one of the T-shirts given to the top 10 finishers.

The Punxsy girls cross country team ran its record to 7-1 with a 15-50 shut out win over visiting Brockway yesterday on a beautiful fall day that was ideal for running. Â
The team also recognized its lone senior, three-time state qualifier Alexis Young.
âAlexis has had a great career so far, and I know she would like to end her senior cross country with a district team title and her fourth consecutive trip to the state meet,â said Punxsy girls coach George Wehrle. Â
