DUBOIS — The Punxsy boys' golf team travelled to DuBois Wednesday for the fifth annual DuBois Area High School Invitational Tournament and scored a combined 342 to earn a respectable fourth place, given the level of competition.
"Fourth place isn't that bad considering we were playing some huge schools out of our district," Punxsy head coach Josh Conrad said after the tournament.
Among the larger schools that competed was State College, which took first place in the tournament with a combined total score of 325.
DUBOIS — The Lady Chucks golf squad travelled to DuBois for the second time this week Wednesday, but for a much different appearance this time around, participating in the 18-team DuBois Invitational Tournament at the Silver Course in Treasure Lake.
Punxsy placed right in the middle of the field, which consisted of several much-larger schools, in ninth place.
To put things in perspective, Punxsy placed first among the five AML teams it usually competes against with a team score of 484.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — The A. J. Parise Youth Football junior team couldn't overcome four turnovers, and the East Brady Bulldogs scored two touchdowns in both the second and the fourth quarter to defeat the Chucks 36-6 last Saturday at Jack LaMarca Stadium in Punxsutawney.
Punxsy took the opening kickoff and was able to move the ball to midfield but fumbled at the 44.
East Brady drove to the 20, and on a fourth-and-seven, Punxsy's Andrew Wehrle deflected a pass attempt headed for the Bulldogs' Devin Ryan, giving the Chucks the ball.
