DUBOIS —Behind five scores in the 50s, with each of the scorers within two strokes of one another, the Lady Chucks golf team defeated DuBois 227-240 Monday afternoon in DuBois.
With the win, Punxsy improves to 8-0 on the season heading into a rematch with DuBois today which begins the second half of the district schedule.
"I'm really proud of the streak this team is on," Punxsy head coach Katie Irwin said. "They worked hard this summer, and their record is reflecting that."
Lauren Giavedoni and Marisa Stockdale shared the low score for Punxsy with a pair of 56s.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Trailing 4-0 at halftime, the Lady Chucks soccer team controlled the ball for most of the second half, but were unable to score, and Brockway went on to win Monday afternoon's game 7-0.
"We came out in the second half like the score was nothing to us, and we were going to score some goals," Punxsy head coach Kevin Hughes said. "Possession wise, we did dominate, but had we started out like that in the first half, it might have been a different story."
As much as Hughes liked the way his girls jumped out in the second half, he still sees lots of room for improvement.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Lady Chucks volleyball team defeated Union Monday night in Punxsutawney behind strong serving — six different girls recorded an ace — and good attacks at the net.
Punxsy started the first game a bit sluggish, falling behind in the early stages and trailing 8-13 before using a timeout to turn the momentum.
After the timeout, Punxsy benefited from two separate three-point rallies by Chelsea Engeholm and Sydney Weaver — who recorded two aces in her mini-streak — to tie the score at 16.
