PUNXSUTAWNEY — Punxsy's Dane Baker set the pace for a 18-41 win over Kane, completing the cross country course in 18:41 Tuesday afternoon at Punxsy's first home meet of the season.
Punxsy's Nathan Ward took second at the meet, finishing just nine seconds behind Baker's time.
"Dane Baker went at a torrid pace and set the pace for everybody," Punxsy head coach John Smith said. "Actually, at the two-mile mark, Nathan Ward was coming on strong, so those two finished very well."
Seth Burkett ran a 19:41 to complete a top-three sweep for Punxsy.
BROOKVILLE — The Lady Chucks golf team improved to 6-0 this season with a convincing 214-243 win over the Lady Raiders Tuesday in Brookville.
Punxsy earned four wins Monday at a host tournament and defeated Brookville in consecutive games with its victory Tuesday.
Punxsy's four scorers were within four strokes of each other, and five-of-six scored in the 50s, while Brookville, the tournament host, only had two players in the 50s.
"The scores were great today," Punxsy head coach Katie Irwin said. "We had a beautiful day for the match, and the course was in great shape."
NEW BETHLEHEM — The A. J. Parise Youth Football junior team lost its third game of the season to Redbank Valley, 12-0 Saturday in New Bethlehem.
Both teams were hampered by a soggy field, but the Bulldogs were able to score on their first two possessions of the game and hold on for the victory.
The Chucks opened the contest with the ball, but fumbled on a second-and-long, giving Redbank the rock at the 38.
The Punxsy defense forced Redbank into a fourth-and-10, when the Bulldogs' Hunter Buzzard was able to break loose for a 24-yard score.
