PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Punxsutawney girls' golf team opened its regular season Thursday afternoon at the Punxsutawney Country Club with a victory over Cranberry and Clarion, 222-236-256, respectively.

"This was the first time we've ever played Clarion and Cranberry," Punxsy head coach Katie Irwin said. "So, the girls were a little nervous, but they worked hard and pulled it off as a team. I'm very proud of them."

Each team sent six girls off the tees and counted the four lowest scores.
