HARRISBURG — Punxsy rising senior Neko Cappella has been part of the Chucks' Big Three of wrestlers alongside 2011 graduate Kody Young and soon-to-be senior Seth Spack the past few years, but he never experienced the glory of winning a district or regional title like his accomplished grappling counterparts.
Cappella won a national title at the National High School Coaches Association Open Nationals Wrestling Tournament during the weekend of May 7 in Harrisburg. Finally, the monkey was off Cappella's back.
DUBOIS — It only took DuBois five innings to take down the Punxsutawney Little League baseball All-Stars Sunday, 11-1.
DuBois' eight-run third inning put the game out of reach, and it walked away the victor as Nick Labrasca hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth to end the game.
Although Punxsy recorded only three hits on the night, manager Joe DiPietro still had positive things to say about his team's effort.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Despite a 7-2 lead at the end of the three innings, the Punxsutawney Minor League baseball All-Stars were eliminated from the tournament Sunday after a 15-14 loss to Brookville. A late push by Brookville led the team to victory, as it scored thirteen runs in the final two innings.
"They were hitting the ball, finding the gaps and putting the ball in play," Punxsy manager Eric Britton said. "It just snowballed on us."
