DuBois takes 1-0 series lead with 8-1 win

July 27, 2011

DUBOIS — The Rossiter Miners jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in Game 1 of the Federation League championship series Tuesday night in DuBois, but DuBois Rockets' pitcher Ben McGary threw six shutout innings after that, and DuBois won 8-1 to take the early lead in the series.

"We didn't have too many guys on base to get a chance to steal a base and score," Rossiter manager Rick Matthews said.

Rossiter also struggled defensively, committing an error in the fourth inning and two in the fifth that all proved to be costly.

Trades for prospects ended up being the worst news I could hear, or so I thought at the time.
