DUBOIS â€” DuBois scored 11 runs on seven hits in the fifth inning, and Riley Assalone allowed only four hits to defeat Punxsy, 17-5 in five innings Wednesday, and advanced to the District 10 Little League softball All-Stars final against the winner of tonight's Ridgway/Bradford game.
Punxsy had three errors in the fifth inning and could have gotten out of the high-scoring inning much earlier, but DuBois took advantage of the errors with three hits and aggressive base running.
RIDGWAY â€” Punxsy scored 11 of its 13 runs during its final three at-bats to defeat Ridgway, 13-9, to move on to the winners' bracket final in Little League baseball All-Star action Wednesday night in Ridgway.
With the win, Punxsy advances to the winners' bracket final where it will play at 4 p.m. Sunday at DuBois. Ridgway falls to the losers' bracket where it will travel to Reynoldsville/Sykesville for a game Friday. Punxsy committed a number of errors in the game, but it still held on for the four-run victory.
BROOKVILLE â€” The Brookville Minor League softball All-Stars was taken down by DuBois, 11-8, in a competitive game Wednesday night in Brookville.
Brookville came back from a five-run deficit to tie it at eight in the fourth, but DuBois added three additional runs in the bottom of the fourth.
"I was real impressed with the way we fought," Brookville manager Carl McManigle said. "We never got down; we kept fighting, and I think the final score shows that."
