PUNXSUTAWNEY â Punxsutawney reigned victorious as they beat the Clearfield Chiefs 14-4 Sunday night in American Legion ball.
A seven-run first inning proved to be just the ticket for Punxsy, as the Chiefs were unable to stage any sort of comeback.
"We jumped out quick in the first inning, and we kinda never looked back after that," Punxsy manager Mike Dickey said. "It was a good win for us. We were patient when we needed to be patient, and we were aggressive when we needed to be aggressive."
DUBOIS â The Punxsy Little League softball All-Stars had just two base runners during an 11-0 loss to DuBois Saturday in a winners' bracket contest in DuBois.
Punxsy (1-1) dropped to the losers' bracket final where it will host Brookville at 6 p.m. tonight.
Brookville defeated St. Marys, 10-7, Sunday afternoon.
DuBois (3-0) is now the king seed in the Southern tier. It will host the Punxsy-Brookville winner at 6 p.m. Wednesday with a chance to advance to the District 10 final against the Northern tier champion.
