DUBOIS â Twice Wednesday, the Punxsy baseball team scored the go-ahead run or runs in the top of an inning. Also twice, DuBois was there to answer soon thereafter.
Unfortunately for the Chucks, DuBois' final go-ahead runs came in the last inning, as Dom Kriner's two-run, walk-off single pushed the Beavers past Punxsy at Showers' Field in DuBois, 4-3.
DUBOIS â Wednesday's 4-1 score doesn't fully represent how close the DuBois boys' tennis team's victory over Punxsy in the District IX Class AAA Team Tournament Finals in DuBois.
After the Chucks fell behind 2-0, they won a doubles match and were ahead during the No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles matches. Punxsy couldn't hold onto either lead and had to settle for runner-up distinction for the third time in four seasons.
BROOKVILLE â Senior Night was bittersweet for senior outfielder Chey Ross and the rest of Brookville softball team Wednesday afternoon in Brookville.
Ross was happy she tripled and drove in a run and helped the team win Game One 8-2, but was equally as frustrated that the Lady Raiders (3-8) fell to Bradford 15-4 in six innings in the Game Two.
"It felt really good to be able to hit and score off it, too," Ross said. "I thought the first game would be a booster. I don't know what changed (in the second game). We need to pick it up."
