MESORACO WATCH

April 23, 2011

Devin Mesoraco, a 2007 baseball state champion at Punxsutawney Area High School, struggled during the second week of his Class AAA season with the Louisville Bats, managing three hits in 18 at-bats.

The Bats didn't do much better, going 2-4 during that span before witnessing a rainout Friday against the Columbus Clippers.

Mesoraco's average dipped to .256 in this young season after a 3-for-18 (.167) week. He still reached base in four of the five games he played this week.

PLAY OF THE WEEK

April 23, 2011

Punxsy senior Shawnna Crago stands on first base after hitting a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning Thursday against DuBois. The hit, which is this week's Play of the Week, broke a 4-4 tie and helped the Lady Chucks beat the Lady Beavers, 6-4.
