March 3rd
PUNXSUTAWNEY â The Punxsy elementary boys' basketball tournament came to a close with three narrow finishes and a pair of decisive victories Thursday night at PAHS Gym A.
Pittsburgh 20, Michigan State 18
Brandon Matthews provided 13 points, and Pittsburgh started the last day of the tournament with a 20-18 victory over Michigan State.
Also scoring for Pitt was Walter Mock (three points), Jacob Ward (two), Adam Haught (one) and Garrett Smith (one).

PUNXSUTAWNEY â Day Three of the Punxsutawney Elementary boys' basketball tournament had two closely contested contests, including two games decided by one possession Wednesday night.
Washington 12, Pitt 9
Brandon Matthews scored seven of his team's nine points, but Pitt was unable to prevent Washington (3-0) from moving to 3-0 in the first of three match-ups between fourth- and fifth-grade teams Wednesday.

PUNXSUTAWNEY â Day Two of the Punxsutawney elementary boys' basketball tournament featured a trio of tight conclusions, including a low-scoring overtime match-up that led off Tuesday night's festivities.
Syracuse 11, Michigan 8, OT
In the first of three fourth- and fifth-grade games Tuesday, four Syracuse players scored during the Orangemen's 11-8 overtime victory over Michigan.
Ethan Blose scored a team-best four points, Willie Hoover had three points, and both Caden Barrick and Zach Pape managed two points for Syracuse (1-1).
PUNXSUTAWNEY â The Punxsy ninth-grade boys' basketball team closed the season on a six-game winning streak following a 44-23 victory over Bradford Feb. 18 to complete a 16-4 season.
Punxsy struggled during the first quarter and fell behind 7-1 entering the second. But the Chucks outscored the Owls 43-16 during the final three quarters to earn the win.
Kevin Hughes scored a team-best 10 points, and Brandon Mancuso and Matt Burkett both added six points.
