HERSHEY â The seasons of Punxsy senior Kody Young and Seth Spack came to an end Friday in Hershey at the PIAA Class AAA Individual Wrestling Tournament.
Both wrestlers fell in the consolation second round. Both were one victory away from earning a medal.
Young (33-4), the school record holder with 143 career victories, saw his career come to an end with a 6-3 loss to Penn Manor senior Bobby Rehm (47-2).
Young finished his career with the second-most falls in District IX history. His 92 pins were two shy of Clarion's Kyle Cathcart, who set the mark from 1999-2002.
PITTSBURGH â Brookville head coach Mark Powell was happy with the way his team played, even though the Lady Raiders lost 60-39 to Bishop Canevin at North Hills High School in the first round of the PIAA Class AA First Round Friday night.
Brookville (17-8) played in its first state playoff game in nearly a decade and will use the experience as a building block for the program.
"I wasn't sure what to expect," Powell said. "But I think it was a great way for our four seniors to go out. And I think the underclassmen played well, and it should help our program."
