PUNXSUTAWNEY — Juniors Logan Weaver and Daniel Triponey played like the best guard combo in the district, and the Chucks handled Bradford in a District IX Class AAA Semifinals preview Friday night, 61-42.
Weaver and Triponey combined for 48 points, as the Chucks evened the season series with Bradford by winning Friday. The two teams will meet Thursday in Punxsutawney in the rubber match for the first round of district playoffs with a trip to the title game on the line.
BRADFORD — The Punxsy girls' basketball team may not be going to the playoffs, but it finished the 2010-2011 season strong.
Punxsy completed the season with a three-win week once it defeated Bradford Friday night, 48-30.
The Lady Chucks (7-15) won't enter the playoffs this year, but they swept the Lady Owls (12-10), who will meet St. Marys in the District IX Class AAA title game. St. Marys and Kayla Hoohuli are in search of a fourth-straight crown.
