November 29th
Ben Davies (right), 10, of Indiana, shot this six-point buck, his first, at 11 a.m. Tuesday while hunting on Steve Means' property in Rossiter with his grandpa, Tom Wasicki (left).
Madysen Ewing, 10, of Punxsutawney, bagged this 170-pound, six-point, her first buck, at 4:30 p.m. Monday while hunting at Northpoint in West Mahoning Township.
Connor Graham, 12, of Punxsutawney, brought down this 150-pound spike, his first buck, at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday while hunting in Young Township.
November 28th
Brayden Grabany, of Punxsutawney, wasted no time harvesting his first buck this deer season when he shot this 185-pound, eight-point at 7:30 a.m. Monday morning hunting in Gaskill Township.
November 27th
The Punxsutawney girls' cross country team held its annual banquet Tuesday night to honor the hard work and effort put forth by the team's members this season. The team also handed out awards to some of ITS players. Pictured are (front, from left) Logan Brooks, Kaston Mohney, Kirsten Dean, Elissa Hill, Ala Small (All-District Second Team), Juliann Boddorf (All-District First Team); (back) Alexis Young (Most points and All-District First Team), Hannah Rummel (Most Improved), Marissa Greenblatt, Kayla Carpenter (Most Seasonal Bests), Jenna Knox, Tamara Anthony and Heidi Rodgers.

The athletes were given personalized plaques commemorating their accomplishments this season by head coach John Smith.
Gordon Bish, of Shelocta, bagged this six-by-six Bull Elk Oct. 31. Bish was hunting from the "Sun of a Bish" camp, which is located in Potter County. He was hunting with his father and son and had the assistance of Hick's Run Outfitters. The elk was bagged one mile east of Sinnemahoning in Cameron County.
November 25th
Local hunters Dave Poerio (left), of Punxsutawney, owner of Almost Heaven Outfitters LLC based out of Frostburg, and Robert Wheary (right), of Clymer, tag-teamed bagging this 13-point, 240-pound deer with a 20-inch inside spread last week at Almost Heaven Outfitters' bow-hunting-only eight-square mile lease in Wyoming County, W.V. Wheary was the first to hit the monster with an arrow. Poerio put a second arrow in it, and Wheary finished it off after the two, with help from their friend Frank-Steve Kovash (not pictured), of Nanty Glo, who assisted in finding and landing the buck.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â From a position that rarely earns any attention or honors, Punxsy interior lineman Jake Shiock, a second-team Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference (KSAC) All-Conference player on both sides of the ball last season, was granted the ultimate honor by the KSAC's Big School Football division when the results were released Wednesday: KSAC Big School Lineman of the Year.
November 24th
Yesterday was Thanksgiving, and as I stood in the driveway in my slippers, tossing around a football with my younger cousins and wishing I hadn't eaten so much, the spirit of the holiday was on my mind.
For me, the meaning of Thanksgiving is twofold. First, it is about counting my many blessings one-by-one. But secondly, it's about being thankful for the memories I've been able to share with those who couldn't join us for this holiday celebration.
