PUNXSUTAWNEY — The 2010 Punxsy football team accomplished something that hasn't been done in more than three decades at Punxsutawney Area High School: An undefeated regular season.
A year after finishing 9-3 while hosting the District IX Class AAA Championship, and three seasons removed from a winless campaign, the Chucks completed the 2010 regular season with an unblemished 10-0 record.
BROOKVILLE — In what was a bizarre football game from start to finish, the Brookville Raiders did enough to end the regular season with a home victory on Senior Night Friday.
During their 21-14 win over Redbank Valley, the Raiders encountered some good, some bad, and some really ugly situations on the field — situations that made Brookville look anything but the 8-2 team it is.
HERSHEY — Punxsy senior A.J. Meterko will make his third trip, and junior Dane Baker will compete for the second time at the PIAA Class AAA Cross Country Championships at noon today in Hershey.
It's been a while since a member of the Chucks has earned three-straight chances at winning a state title. Meterko finished in 180th place during each of his trips to states in 2008 and 2009. In '09, his time was 18:07, and his 2008 mark was 18:09.
