CLARION â€” The Punxsy boys' soccer team fell one magical moment shy of winning a District IX Class AA Championship in its first-ever appearance in the district's final game of the season.
The Chucks (15-4-1) scored midway through the first half, but as the clock continued to roll, Bradford (14-6) came closer and closer to scoring the equalizer.
After the Owls tied the game with eight minutes remaining in regulation, they scored again with seven minutes left in double overtime to earn the district title Wednesday night at Clarion University's Memorial Stadium, 2-1.
A number of upperclassmen were celebrated during Senior Night prior to the Punxsutawney versus Brookville football game last Friday at Jack LaMarca Memorial Stadium. Punxsy won, 37-6. PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” After Day Three of the Punxsutawney elementary girls' basketball tournament Wednesday, only Pitt remained undefeated going into Friday's final day of competition.
The fourth- and fifth-grade division Panthers improved to 4-0, while the only other previously-undefeated team, the sixth-grade UConn Huskies, suffered its first loss of the tournament, dropping to 2-1 in competition this week.

Pitt (4-0) continued its dominance Wednesday, as it took down UCLA (0-3), 24-5.
