CLARION — After an emotional 4-3 victory in overtime Monday night in which the Punxsy boys' soccer team didn't play its best ball, the Chucks will face Bradford at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Clarion University's Memorial Stadium with the 2010 District IX Class AA Championship on the line.
Punxsy (15-3-1) hopes to add yet another first to a record-breaking season — a district banner.
It'll first have to get past the Owls, a squad that it hasn't played since Oct. 3, 2007, when Bradford earned a 4-3 win in double overtime in Punxsutawney.
A number of upperclassmen were celebrated during Senior Night prior to the Punxsutawney versus Brookville football game last Friday at Jack LaMarca Memorial Stadium. Punxsy won, 37-6.
DUBOIS — Brookville head coach Dan Smith has won his share of memorable games during his five-year run as the leader of the Raiders.
It's safe to say that Tuesday night's 2-1 win over Brockway just moved near the top of that list.
In a game that the Raiders clearly wanted to win about as much as a team could display, Brookville got the better of the Rovers after failing to beat them in two previous meetings this season during a District IX Class A semifinal playoff game at Clarion University's Memorial Stadium.
