Presloid chosen as UAVSL MVP

November 10, 2010

PUNXSUTAWNEY — When Punxsy junior Tyler Presloid received the news that he was named the Upper Allegheny Valley Soccer League Boys' Central Division Most Valuable Player, he was quite surprised.

"This is a huge honor because there are a lot of good players in the league," Presloid said. "To be named MVP, I'm just speechless."

Those around the league can't be the least bit shocked about the honor, as the junior set the PAHS single-season school record with 25 goals and led the Chucks to a 15-4-1 record and their first-ever District IX Class AA Championship Game berth.

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Most Valuable Player Tyler Presloid wasn't the only member of the Chucks to be selected as an Upper Allegheny Valley Soccer League Boys' Central Division All-Star.

After the Chucks broke the school record for wins in a season and claimed their first-ever postseason victory, Presloid was joined by senior Kody Young and junior Daniel Triponey as Punxsy players recognized by the league.

Strong season comes to close for Raiders

November 10, 2010

SOMERSET — After losing by a goal in the District IX Class A Championship Game last Thursday to Northern Potter, the Brookville Raiders had a new attitude when it came to the PIAA state playoffs: Have fun.

The Raiders entered the first round of the state tournament Tuesday in Somerset with a laid back feel, and the notion that playing a loose game with zero pressure would be the best approach. That mindset nearly paid off, as the Raiders kept pace with North Star before surrendering a second-half goal, ending Brookville's season with a 1-0 loss to the Cougars.
