Robert Leonard âBudâ Mangioni, 72, of Big Run, died Friday, Aug, 10, 2012, at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born April 9, 1940, in Punxsutawney, one of 14 children of Leonard and Gladys (Campbell) Mangioni.
The love of his life and best friend was Elsie (Himes) Yeager, who preceded him in death on Oct. 29, 1992.
He enjoyed his family and grandchildren.
His grandchildren called him âa funny grandpa,â because, at 71 years old, he still did cartwheels and headstands at their birthday parties.
Bud enjoyed tinkering around with televisions and tractors.
Helen Irvin Owens, 72, passed away peacefully on Aug. 6, 2012.
Helen is survived by her children, Jenipher (Charles) Hickman, Elizabeth (Chad) Larson and Stephen (Jennifer) Owens, as well as her brother, Charles Irvin.
She was also the proud grandmother of Benjamin and Will Hickman, Meredith, Katherine and Owen Larson, and John Owens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Jenipher Irvin, as well as her sister-in-law Linda Irvin.
A private graveside ceremony will be held in Indiana, Pa.
Margaret DuBose Hammond Marshall, 88, of Rochester Mills, passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at the Communities at Indian Haven.
She was born March 3, 1924, in Pascagoula, Miss., a daughter of the late Lee Rogers and Shermie DuBose Hammond.
Mrs. Marshall was a graduate of Austin High School and the University of Texas in El Paso, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education.
She retired from the Marion Center School District after many years as a teacher.
Mary "Martha" (Smorey) Clark, 91, Wexford, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Vincentian Home surrounded by family.
She was born Feb. 1, 1921, in Braddock, a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Smorey.
She married Roy M. Clark Jr., who preceded her in death Dec. 13, 1960.
Martha was a loving homemaker her entire life and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Donald J. Wolfe, 57, Brookville, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at Brookville Hospital.
He was born Nov. 18, 1954, in Butler, a son of the late James Donald Wolfe and Wilma Jane Sollinger Wolfe, who survives, of Knox.
Aug. 4, 2007, in Brookville, he married Pokey Wolfe, who survives.
Mr. Wolfe worked as a laborer for the Glen-Gery Hanley Brick Plant in Summerville for 28 years,and he also worked for the Forest Way Inn for 10 years.
He was an avid artist and enjoyed art, camping, hunting and his dogs.
He especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
William S. Gomola, 89, Punxsutawney, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Nov. 14, 1922, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Steve and Mary (Sivanich) Gomola.
Sept. 20, 1947, he married Anna (Roman) Gomola, who survives.
He was a member of Saint Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church of Punxsutawney.
Mr. Gomola served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1941 to 1945, where he was an intercept operator.
He loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and the Penguins.
Harold Fredrick Hartzfeld Jr., 80, Punxsutawney, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 24, 1932, in Gaskill Township, a son of the late Harold Fredrick and Phyllis Evelyn (Limerick) Hartzfeld.
He was veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War.
March 19,1955, he married the former Mary Louise Irvine, who survives.
Harold worked as a coal miner and a heavy equipment operator for mining coal.
He loved being with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dean HeLal, 80, of Punxsutawney, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at home.
He was born June 3, 1932, in Northfork, W.Va., the son of the late Hussein and Badia HeLal.
He was married to Diane (Cameron) HeLal, who survives.
He was the owner of Punxy Phil's Family Restaurant in Punxsutawney. He previously owned Mr. Dean's Richman Brothers Men's Store and Perkin's Family Restaurant at the Punxy Plaza.
He was a 50-year member of John W. Jenks Lodge No. 534, Free and Accepted Masons and Jaffa Shrine in Altoona, and he was also a member of the Punxsutawney Country Club.
Barbara E. Cessna, 84, Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at Jefferson Manor, Brookville.
She was born May 13, 1928, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Frank C. and Melvena (Smith) Heckman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David J. Cessna, in 2010.
Barbara was the Sunday School teacher and played piano at First Assembly of God Church for many years.
She served her life faithfully for the Lord.
Billy L. Leasure, 73, of Edinburg, passed away the afternoon of July 31, 2012, in Jameson Hospital North.
He was born Sept. 23, 1938, in Marion Center, a son of the late Earl and Arveda (Walker) Leasure.
He was married to the late Edna I. Wyant for 37 years. She preceded him in death on Aug. 25, 2002.
Billy was of the Protestant faith.
He retired after 35 years as a highlift operator for the former Indalex Corporation in Girard, Ohio.
Billy was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He served from Dec. 13, 1961 until Dec. 13, 1963, when he received his honorable discharge.
