Anthony J. â€śTonyâ€ť Villella, 90, Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
He was born Jan. 13, 1924, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Frank and Raphael (Serian) Villella.
On April 19, 1948, he married Loretta Ann (Taczak) Villella, who preceded him in death on May 5, 2001.
He was a member of SS.C.D. Church and a graduate of the Punxsutawney High School Class of 1942.
He was an avid bowler and a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.
Miriam Louise Wachob Haag, 85, formerly of Big Run and Groveland, Fla., died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at Knickerbocker Villa Senior Care Residence in Clearfield.
She was born on Nov. 23, 1928, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., a daughter of the late Harry and Edith (McClure) Wachob.
On July 9, 1949, she married Harvey E. Haag of Oliveburg, who preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 2000.
Miriam was a beautician, working for many years at Sutterâ€™s Beauty Shop in Punxsutawney, before opening Miriam Haagâ€™s Beauty Shop in Big Run, which she ran for over 30 years.
Mervin J. Adams, 91, of Dora, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Mahoning Riverside Manor.
Mr. Adams was born April 5, 1922, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late James I. and Florence (Hawk) Adams-Shick.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude (Bush) Adams.
Mr. Adams was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the Dora Evangelical Church, VFW in Brookville and the 99th Infantry Division Association.
Carl Kearney Wachob, 83, Punxsutawney, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
He was born Nov. 3, 1930, in Brookville, a son of the late Charles and Mary (Parr) Wachob.
On June 13, 1953, he married Joan (Freas) Wachob, who survives.
He was a member of the Punxsutawney Presbyterian Church, where he served as a past elder of the church.
He enjoyed eating and spending time with his family.
He was a graduate of the Punxsutawney High School Class of 1950.
Mr. Wachob served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1949 to 1982 and retired as a 1SG.
Jack L. Lowmaster, 76, of Glen Campbell, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at UMPC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
The son of William â€śLeeâ€ť and Vera Hazel (Spencer) Lowmaster, he was born on Oct. 4, 1937 in Banks Township, Indiana County.
Jack was a graduate of the Punxsutawney High School Class of 1955.
He attended the Glen Campbell United Methodist Church.
Prior to moving back to the local area following his retirement, Jack had been employed 42 years as an iron worker foreman.
Rita M. Vilkinofsky, 53, of Punxsutawney, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
She was born Jan. 11, 1961, in Phillipsburg, a daughter of the late Bernard Vilkinofsky and Dorothy Goda-Vilkinofsky, who survives.
Rita was a member of Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church.
She attended SS.C.D. School and was a 1978 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School and a graduate of Gannon University.
Rita resided in Erie, Pa., for 20 years.
She worked for Erie Insurance, volunteered for the Red Cross and enjoyed spending time at Lake Presque in Erie.
Suzanne Quigg, 55, of Reynoldsville, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 13, 1959.
Suzie enjoyed going to amusement parks, teasing people and being out and around people. She especially liked to swim.
She shared her home with three others, and was well loved by those who surrounded her.
She attended Adult Programs in both Punxsutawney and DuBois.
Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
Annie Laurie Williams, 88, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014.
She was born October 29, 1925, in North Point, Pa., the only child of the late Dale B. and Lillian (Shields) Crawford.
Mrs. Williams was a retired teacher of the business curriculum in the Punxsutawney School District.
She also instructed the Secretarial Technology program at Jeff Tech and was a part-time teacher at IUP, Punxsy Campus.
Stephen Joseph Kirk Kruzelak, 68, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, with his family by his side in Falls Creek, Pennsylvania.
Steve was born July 15, 1945, in DuBois, to Stephen Kruzelak and Janet Kirk Kruzelak Phillips.
Steve served in the United State Air Force during the Vietnam War and worked many years as a heavy equipment mechanic in both Pennsylvania and Florida for C&K Coal Company, Femco Machine and M&S Heavy Equipment.
Sanford O. â€śOttoâ€ť Grube, Jr., 89, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Mulberry Square.
He was born Aug. 3, 1924, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Cora M. (Blose) and Sanford O. Grube, Sr.
On March 1, 1953, in Butler, he married Muriel C. (Heitzenrater) Grube, who survives.
He worked as a steamfitter for Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local 354 for 43 years, retiring in 1989.
