William Michael Roberts Sr., 88, Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born Dec. 4, 1924, in Robertsville, a son of the late Frank Roberts and Jennie (Barletta) Roberts.
On Jan. 9, 1954, he married Jean (Pride) Roberts, who survives.
Bill was a member of the Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church of Punxsutawney.
In 2011, he was honored with the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice, known as the â€śCross of Honour.â€ť
This is the highest award given by the papacy to honor service.
Raymond C. Bachelier, 88, of Brookville, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013.
Raymond was born June 16, 1925, in Grampian, Pa., the son of Harry P. Bachelier and Marion Kendall Bachelier.
Robert Wayne Dinger, 68, died Aug. 31, 2013, in Sarasota, Fla.
He was born March 28, 1945.
His memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at The First Assembly of God Church, Walston Road, Punxsutawney.
Family and friends are welcome to come share in celebrating Wayne's life.
Evelyn K. McNamara (nee Depp), 63, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas McNamara; and her parents, Paul and Alverda Depp.
She was the loving mother to Andrew (Joyce) Suckart and Sean (Jessica) Suckart; dear grandmother to Jacob, Joshua, Jenna, Amanda, Cassie, Connor, Jocelyn and Alexa; sister to Karen (Richard) Noernberg, Patricia Carmichael and Alan (Jana) Depp; and aunt to Brenda, Beverly, Ian and Ryan.
M. Gene Crawford of Brookville passed away at his home with his loving family on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at the age of 84.
The third youngest of eight children, Gene was born on Dec. 30, 1928, to Boyd E. and B. Irene (Fritz) Crawford of Oakridge, Pa.
A graduate of New Bethlehem High School, he was a talented scholar-athlete who excelled at football and baseball and was elected president of his class.
Edwin L. Snyder, Jr., 88, Rochester Mills, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at home.
He was born April 22, 1925, in Homer City, a son of the late Edwin L. and Freda L. (Wells) Snyder.
On Jan. 26, 1952, he married Virginia C. (Carter) Snyder, who preceded him in death on Aug. 22, 2010.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Punxsutawney.
He grew up in the home of his grandmother, Martha Long Snyder, and his father near Rochester Mills.
He graduated from Marion Center High School Class of 1942 and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Elizabeth A. Maue â€” Betty, as she was known to friends and family â€” was
born Nov. 26, 1931, in McGeeâ€™s Mills, Pa., to the late Clyde L. and Anna Lucille (Ferrier) McGee.
She was the beloved wife of Ward F. Maue, with whom she would have celebrated 61 years of marriage on Nov. 9.
Betty spent many years as an Army wife, supporting her husband and raising their family at military bases in the United States and Germany for nearly 20 years, prior to settling in Townsend, Mass., in 1971.
Helen A. Gudalis, 101, DuBois, formerly of Sykesville, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Christ the King Manor.
She was born Aug. 14, 1912, in Walston, a daughter of the late Peter Tersine and Louise DeFlora.
She was married to William G. Gudalis, Sr. He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1989.
She was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Sykesville and was a long-time member of the A.B.V.M. Rosary Society.
She enjoyed cooking, shopping and her family.
Blaine E. Heckman Sr., 70, of Brookville, went home to be with his Lord in the early morning hours of Sept. 9, 2013, following a lengthy illness.
Born June 6, 1943, in Punxsutawney, he was the son of John W. and Olive (Snyder) Heckman, the youngest of five children.
His life of 70 years was full of dedication to hard work, but never lacking in joy.
Those who knew Blaine were always cheered by his light-hearted humor.
His entrepreneurial spirit was evidenced by various successful endeavors.
Florence â€śDollyâ€ť Kelso, 82, of Brookville, died peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, after an extended battle with Multiple Myeloma.
Dolly was born on May 7, 1931.
She was married for 25 years to Allen R. Hetrick, who died in 1979 at the young age of 54.
In 1981, she married William G. Kelso, who died in 2011 at the age of 92.
She was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Kettin) Bockoras.
She was born and raised on â€śBâ€ť street in Brookville and moved 50 yards down the same street and made her own home for the rest of her life.
