Robert T. Milligan Sr., 95, of Valier, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at Wellington Heights Personal Care Home.
He was born Oct. 16, 1919, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late William D. and Irene (Bortz) Milligan.
On Jan. 4, 1941, he married Frances E. Dilts, who preceded him in death.
He was the owner of Milliganâ€™s Store in Valier for 35 years and was also the postmaster for 30 years.
He was a member of the Valier United Methodist Church. He was a member of the John W. Jenks Masonic Lodge 534 for over 50 years, where he was a 33rd Degree Mason and was Master of the lodge in 1965.
Marian M. Martin, 82, of Punxsutawney, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
She was born Aug. 27, 1932, in Porter, a daughter of the late Blair and Freda (Powell) Gahagan.
On March 25, 1950, she married Vernon C. Martin, who preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 2011.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church and the Trade City Mahoning Grange.
Sandra L. (Coon) Shumaker, 68, of New Bethlehem, died Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 3, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Oct. 31, 1946, in Indiana, Pa., she was the daughter of June (Swab) and Raymond Coon, former residents of Punxsutawney.
She married Larry E. Shumaker on Nov. 30, 1963. He survives. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 30, 2013.
John Patrick Miller, 79, died peacefully while holding the hands of his family on Nov. 28, 2014.
Born on March 16, 1935 in Punxsutawney, he was the son of the late John Paul and Mary Lucy Augustyn Miller.
Larry C. Shirey, 70, of New Bethlehem, died on Sunday evening, Nov. 30, 2014, surrounded by his family, at the home of his caregivers, Pam Shirey and Jamie LeVier.
He was born on Jan. 7, 1944, in Mayport, the son of the late J. Russell and Dorothy L. (Kunselman) Shirey. He was married on Dec. 4, 1965, to Sally M. (Bain), who preceded him in death on April 15, 2012.
Larry served his country with the United States Navy from 1961 to 1965.
He was a union coal miner with R & P Coal Co. for 20 years and belonged to the United Mine Workers.
Kenneth Edward Phillips, 96, of Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, at Hillsdale Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hillsdale, Pa.
Ken was bornÂ on Jan. 12, 1918, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late John Matthew Phillips and Gladys Helene (Jordan) Phillips.Â He graduated from Clymer High School in 1935.
On April 4, 1942, he was married to Evelyn Matilda ("Tillie") Grube in Punxsutawney at the First United Methodist Church.
Alexander (Metro) Midock, 92, of New Kensington, died peacefully, surrounded by his children, on Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at the Willows Presbyterian Senior Care, Oakmont, Pa.
He was born Nov. 13, 1922, in DeLancey (Adrian), Pa., the oldest son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Brudnock) Midock.
On Oct. 18, 1947, he married Elizabeth (Walker) Midock of Anita Pa., who preceded him in death. They were married for 64 years.
Mr. Midock was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an active and devoted member of St. Peter and Paulâ€™s Byzantine Catholic Church in Tarentum, Pa.
Anna Jane â€śJaneâ€ť Kennedy, 91, Indiana, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at St. Andrews Village in Indiana.
She was born Dec. 2, 1922, in Oliveburg, a daughter of the late Clifford and Florence (Reitz) Wachob.
On Nov. 24, 1946, she married Samuel A. Kennedy, who preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1986.
She was a homemaker and worked for the Quaker Market in Punxsutawney for five years.
She was a member of the Marchand United Methodist Church and also attended the Trinity United Methodist Church in Indiana, Pa.
Edward L. Henninger Jr., 65, of Oil City, President Township, died Friday afternoon, Nov. 28, 2014, at his residence, following an extended illness.
He was born in Big Run, Jefferson County, on Oct. 22, 1949, to the late Edward L. and Olita Ione (Askey) Henninger.
He was a graduate of DuBois High School and attended nursing school at Clarion University.Â He graduated from college in ArizonaÂ after earningÂ a bachelor's degree in nursing.
Mr. Henninger served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 until 1973 and served aboard the USS Henley and the USS Forrestal.
Christian J. Gaston, 90, went to be with his Savior on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born Dec. 26, 1923, in Rossiter, Pa., the son of the late Tally and Catherine (Stambler) Gaston.
He graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1941.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 36th Calvary Mech Squad.
On July 7, 1944, he married Rosemary Flick, who survives.
He was a life member of the Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Punxsutawney, where he served in numerous offices and activities.
