Joann Baird, 62, of Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Mulberry Square Eldercare.
She was born on July 13, 1952, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late John and Dorothy Roselli.
Joann was married to Roger Baird. He survives and resides in Punxsutawney.
In addition to Roger, she is survived by three children, Jason Roselli of DuBois, Joshua Burdick of Rimersburg and Jessica Baird of Punxsutawney; one sister, Sharon Gearhart and husband Delbert of Jamestown, Pa.; and two brothers, Rick Fisher and wife Ruth of Reynoldsville and Chuck Fisher of Rossiter.
Sophia M. Strano, 91, of Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, in Baytown, Texas.
She was born April 6, 1923, in Adrian, a daughter of the late Frank and Leokadia (Yanoski) Moskowski.
On Aug. 7, 1943, she married Angelo R. â€śAngeâ€ť Strano, who preceded her in death on April, 6, 2013.
She was a member of the Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church of Punxsutawney.
She worked as a clothing inspector for 20 years but was mainly a housewife who had a passion for cooking. She loved to cook for her children and grandchildren.
Richard T. McQuown, 41, of New Cumberland, passed away Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014.
Mr. McQuown was born July 29, 1973, in Punxsutawney, a son of Thomas B. McQuown of Punxsutawney and Sheila M. (Hoffer) McQuown and Thomas Murphy of Weedville.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Iraq War.
Rich was a 1991 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School and a 1996 graduate of IUP, where he received a bachelor's degree in regional planning. He was a member of Theta Chi and earned a master's degree in environmental science from Shippensburg University.
James H. Means, 91, passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, at Golden Living in Clarion, Pa.
He and his twin brother, John W. Means, were born April 9, 1923, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late William B. and Ethel (Sutter) Means.
Jim was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army.
In 1947, he married Betty (Lingenfelter) Means. She survives and resides in Punxsutawney.
He was a co-owner, with his brothers, of Means Brothers Construction Company.
He was a member of the Valier United Methodist Church.
Alvin Lee Kendall, 81, of Big Run, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, at Jefferson Manor.
He was born on Oct. 10, 1933, in the Big Run area, a son of the late Don and Mary Olivette (Peace) Kendall.
On Dec. 24, 1957, he married the former Dorothy Ann Gray. She preceded him in death on July 23, 2007.
Alvin attended the Scotland Avenue Church of God. He was a man of great faith, sharing the love of God with whoever crossed his path. He also enjoyed reaching others through lay witness missions. He formerly taught Sunday School.
Gertrude Ann Bruno, 78, of Home, Pa., gracefully entered the presence of the Lord, following a courageous struggle with renal failure at IRMC on Sunday, Nov 2, 2014, All Soulsâ€™ Day.
Born in 1936, in Ernest, Pa., to John and Anna (Zinzella) Liscinsky, Gert was a 1954 graduate of Indiana High School and Business College. A devoted Roman Catholic, she had been a member of churches in Ernest, Sagamore and Yatesboro. Gert strongly believed in the power of prayer and relied on her unwavering faith commitment.
Family was Gertâ€™s priority.
Ruth E. (Wolfgang) Murray Williams, 95, of Shade Gap, Pa., fomerly of Punxsutawney, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at the Woodland Retirement Community, Orbisonia.
She was born on Aug. 7, 1919, in Juneau, Indiana County, Pa., the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Etta (Perason) Wolfgang.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Murray and Kenneth Williams.
Ralph R. Neill, Jr., 88, of Ringgold, died Thursday morning, Oct. 30, 2014, at the Brookville Hospital.
Born March 23, 1926 in Ramsaytown, he was the son of Ralph Robert and Esther Margaret (McAninch) Neill. He was formerly married to Helen Abby (Bell).
He served his country during World War II as a Seaman 1st class in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was a foreman and coal miner, employed by Rochester and Pittsburgh Coal, Doverspike Bros. and Charlie Schoffner Coal Companies.
Kenneth W. Fetterman, 85, passed away Oct. 16, 2014, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mr. Fetterman was born Aug. 9, 1929, in DeLancey, a son of the late James C. Fetterman and Linnie Viola Black Fetterman.
Mr. Fetterman proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 26 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War, retiring as MSgt.
He is survived by his only child, Peri Ann McGinnis and son-in-law Cash McGinnis of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Helen Louise Irvin, 93, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, Oct. 23, 2014, in Glendale, Arizona.
She was born Dec. 10, 1920, in Punxsutawney, to M. Stanley and Ona (Quigley) Reams.
She was married March 15, 1939, to Clarence Yohe, who died a young man on June 1, 1945.
Her second husband of 65 years, Charles H. Irvin, from Big Run, Pa., preceded her in death on March 10, 2013.
