Harold “Mike” Wesley Bish, 92, Negley, Ohio, formerly of New Galilee, died Saturday, March 5, 2011.

He was born Oct. 9, 1918, in Oak Ridge, a son of the late Guy W. Bish and Pearl (Davis) Bish.

Eugene R. "Red" Bowser, 83

Eugene R. "Red" Bowser, 83, Punxsutawney, died Friday, March 4, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Aug. 12, 1927, in Bagdad, a son of the late Floyd and Grace (Wolfe) Bowser.

April 15, 1951, he married Joan M. (Smith) Bowser, who survives, of Punxsutawney. They were married 59 years.

Mr. Bowser attended the Albion United Methodist Church.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
Mr. Bowser was retired from the B&O Railroad as an engineer.

Douglas M. "Gunny" Craft, 53

Douglas M. "Gunny" Craft, 53, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at the VA Medical Center in Oakland.

He was born Dec. 9, 1957, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late James Craft and Sarah (Cameron) Craft-Bartlebaugh.

He was married to Susan L. (Snyder) Craft, who survives, of Punxsutawney.

Mr. Craft served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a gunnery sergeant from 1975 until 1995, before retiring as a career Marine.

Margaret (Peg) Laura Waggett, 90

Margaret (Peg) Laura Waggett, 90, widow of Earl H. Waggett, died March 2, 2011, at Hospice Care Center, St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, Ky.

Born in Hamilton, Pa., June 1, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Hamilton and Lilian Blose Stear.

She lived in Sharon, Pa.; Akron, Ohio; Hamilton, Pa.; and Seminole, Fla., prior to moving to Lexington, Ky., to be near her daughter, Sandra W. Miller.

Burton L. Mottern Sr.

Burton L. Mottern Sr., 83, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at his home.

He was born Feb. 28, 1928, in Dora, a son of the late Irvin M. and Dora (Geist) Mottern.

Mr. Mottern was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Air Force.

March 30, 1949, he married Betty (Vallies) Mottern, who survives, of Punxsutawney.

Mr. Mottern was a member of the Punxsutawney Eagles and the United Mine Workers Union.

Oliver H. Snyder Jr., 72

Oliver H. Snyder Jr., 72, Punxsutawney, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at his home.

He was born March 1, 1939, in DuBois, a son of the late Oliver H. and Margaret M. (Mirandi) Snyder Sr.
He was married to Heidi (Scarletta) Snyder, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Snyder was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served as a private in the U.S. Army.

He was a truck driver for Krise Bus Company and a member of the National Rifle Association.

Thressa Ann Guinen, 56

Thressa Ann Guinen, 56, Big Run, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at home.

 She was born April 3, 1955, in DuBois, a daughter of Joseph and Clara (Perkowski) Agnello, who survive, of Anita.

 Ms. Guinen loved shopping at Goodwill, yard sales and garage sales. She enjoyed helping others and had previously worked as a caregiver.

 On her roughest day, she always made people laugh, and she dearly loved her children and grandchildren.

Earlajane Burkett, 87

Earlajane Burkett, 87, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at the DuBois Nursing Home.

She was born Dec. 31, 1923, the daughter of the late Howard A. and Edna (Nichols) Jones.

Jan. 6, 1943, she married Kermith F. Burkett, who preceded her in death July 26, 2000.

Mrs. Burkett was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Punxsutawney, and she was a retired employee of J.C. Penney of Punxsutawney.

Nancy L. McGaffic, 69

Nancy L. McGaffic, 69, New Castle and Jefferson County, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Brookville Hospital after a short illness.

She was born Jan. 16, 1942, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Orloff D. and Garnet W. (Linton) Hoover.
June 8, 2001, she married Joseph McGaffic, who survives.

Mrs. McGaffic graduated from New Castle High School and later studied nursing.

She was employed as a hostess at the Meadows off-track racing center in New Castle for 15 years and retired in 2004.

Benjamin W. Kelsey, 31, of, Chicora, Bradys Bend Township, Armstrong County, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at Butler Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Kelsey was born Jan. 4, 1980, in Punxsutawney, the son of Bryan and Kim (Dinger) Kelsey of Chicora.

He was a 1998 graduate of Karns City High School. Mr. Kelsey attended the Chicora Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.  He loved the Lord and he would witness to those he talked to online. 

He enjoyed radio controlled vehicles, drawing, and the company of his family and friends.
