Alexander “Jake” Testut III, 66

Alexander “Jake” Testut III, 66, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

He was born on Long Island, N.Y., a son of the late Alexander Testut II and Dorothy Wottawa.

Mr. Testut was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years before his medical discharge.

He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Blaine E. Todd, 79

April 10, 2011

Blaine E. Todd, 79, Salem, N.J., passed away Monday, April 4, 2011, at the Memorial Hospital of Salem County.

He was born in 1932 in Punxsutawney, a son of the late John and Edna (Lingenfelter) Todd.

He was the fifth child of three brothers and four sisters.

In 1951, Mr. Todd graduated from Punxsutawney High School and began a two year stint in the U.S. Army, where he served a 16-month tour in Korea.

In 1953, he was the Fort Worth Golden Gloves Boxing Champion.

Gary Lee Pontani, 65

Gary Lee Pontani, 65, Starford, went to be with his Lord Thursday, April 7, 2011, at UPMC-Shadyside, Pittsburgh.

He was born March 25, 1946, in Indiana, a son of the late Herman Armand and Dorothy Aileen (Shaw) Pontani.

Mr. Pontani started his career as a postmaster in Starford, then went on to Clymer, Homer City and finally retired as postmaster of the Punxsutawney Post Office.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Indiana VFW Post 1989, a former member of the 40-8 Club and NAPUS.

Mr. Pontani was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Timothy Huntley King (also known as Timothy MacIsaac), 63

April 7, 2011

Timothy Huntley King (also known as Timothy MacIsaac), 63, died of cancer Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at his home in Creekside.

He was born Feb. 11, 1948, in Syracuse, N.Y., a son of the late Hamilton and Bettye King, both of whom were trained as teachers at Oswego State College. Mr. King's mother taught in the North Syracuse School System until she and her two sons moved to Rochester Mills in 1960, with her second husband, Don MacIsaac, who survives, of Rochester Mills.

Ryan H. Fraser, 28

Ryan H. Fraser, 28, Clearfield, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 3, 1983, a son of Barbara (Matzie) Irwin, who survives, of Rossiter.

Mr. Fraser attended the Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School and had been employed in retail sales.

He was Christian by faith.

In addition to his mother, surviving relatives include a son, Titan D. Fraser of Clearfield; a sister, Danielle Peace and husband Justin of Punxsutawney; two brothers, Adam Fraser and wife Ashley of Houtzdale, and Justin Neal of Rossiter; three nephews; and a niece.

Stanley E. Piekielek, 79

April 6, 2011

Stanley E. Piekielek, 79, Punxsutawney, died Monday, April 4, 2011, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born May 20, 1931, in DeLancey, a son of the late Anthony and Josephine (Pogwizd) Piekielek.

July 14, 1979, he married Shirley Edmondson, who survives.

Mr. Piekielek was a member of St. Adrian Roman Catholic Church, where he was an usher. He also delivered Meals on Wheels.

He was retired from North American Carbon Company.

Marjorie Dickson Staikides, 80

Marjorie Dickson Staikides, 80, West Chester, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at Paoli Memorial Hospital.

She was born in New Castle, a daughter of William Campbell and Isabel C. (Cutler) Dickson.

Mrs. Staikides grew up in Punxsutawney and attended Grove City College. She was the wife of the late John James Staikides, also of Punxsutawney, who was a respected artist and art teacher in the Kennett Consolidated School District.

After marrying, the couple moved to southern Chester County, where they happily raised their family together.

Connie L. Grimes, 73

Connie L. Grimes, 73, Brookville, died Monday, April 4, 2011, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was born Aug. 11, 1937, in West Virginia, a daughter of the late Orval W. and Lillian (Carroll) Grimes.

Ms. Grimes worked as a registered nurse at Brookville Hospital, Punxsutawney Hospital, the Pennsylvania Memorial Home in Brookville, and for the Brookville Area of the Aging.

She was a member of the Port Barnett United Methodist Church in Brookville, and she enjoyed reading and playing the piano.

Kenneth C. Ishman, 80

Kenneth C. Ishman, 80, formerly of Claremont, Calif., and Pinehurst, N.C., died Saturday April 2, 2011, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 14, 1930, in Knox Dale, a son of the late Wayne and Sara (Chapman) Ishman.

He was married to his wife of 54 years, Rose M. Ishman, who survives.
Mr. Ishman was an avid golfer, and a loving, quiet, caring man with a humorous side. His deep blue eyes expressed his love and thankfulness to those who grew to become a part of his life.
