Joseph Lellock Jr., 90

Joseph Lellock Jr., 90, Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born May 29, 1920, in Sykesville, a son of the late Joseph and Veronica (Paholsky) Lellock.

He was married to Ethel Irene (Sivanich) Lellock, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Lellock was a carpenter and an honorary retiree with 50 years in the Carpenters’ Union.

He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart, the Silver Star and three Bronze Stars.

He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church.

Elizabeth (Walker) Midock, 86

Elizabeth (Walker) Midock, 86, New Kensington, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Presbyterian Senior Care, Oakmont.

She was born May 4, 1925, in Anita, a daughter of the late Thomas C. and Jennie (Armstrong) Walker.

Oct. 18, 1947, she married Alexander Midock, who survives. They were married for 64 years.

Mrs. Midock was a kind and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, gardening, crocheting and doing crossword puzzles.

Donald John Monoskey, 69

Donald John Monoskey, 69, Marion Center, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Crystal Waters.

He was born May 18, 1942, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Joseph Charles and Anna (DeBeck) Monoskey.

Mr. Monoskey was a coal auger operator.

Travis J. Hemm, 20

Travis J. Hemm, 20, Mayport, died Sunday, May 22, 2011, as a result of a motorcycle accident.

He was born June 20, 1990, in Meriden, Conn., the son of Joseph and Doreen (Lyman) Hemm.

He was employed by Rosebud Mining.

In addition to his parents, surviving relatives include a sister, Danielle Lyman of Mayport; a brother, Jarrod Hemm of Punxsutawney; his maternal grandmother, Gail Lyman of Mayport; and his paternal grandparents, Frank and Josephine Hemm of Tucson, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William Lyman.

Katherine L. (Raybuck) Fetterman, 85

Katherine L. (Raybuck) Fetterman, 85, Punxsutawney, died Monday, May 23, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Aug. 17, 1925, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Carl A. Raybuck and Florence Raybuck-Gourley.

She was married to Harry A. Fetterman, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Fetterman attended Flowing Waters Outreach Church.

A loving mother and grandmother, she was dedicated to her Lord and Savior. She and her husband were involved with the church for many years. After his passing, Mrs. Fetterman continued her duties at the church.

Dr. W. Ardell Haines, 91

Dr. W. Ardell Haines, 91, son of Waide B. Haines and Ida M. Haines, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011.

He was born in Punxsutawney and graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1935 Dr. Haines was married to the former Wilma Gall, of Punxsutawney, who survives.

He graduated from Indiana State Teachers College (now Indiana University of Pennsylvania) in 1940 with a B.S. degree in business education. In 1940, he began his career in education at Baldwin Township High School in Pittsburgh, where he taught business education courses in the commercial department.

Dorothy I. Cherry, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, May 21, 2011.

She was born in 1925 to the late Harry E. and Edna Z. (Wills) Duey in Tyrone.

She was married to Andrew Dale Cherry, who preceded her in death June 26, 1999.

Mrs. Cherry was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Clymer. She was a member of the Senior Saints at her place of worship. She enjoyed being a homemaker, raising her family, being a grandmother, helping her friends and personal Bible Study Class at Crystal Waters Nursing Home.

Mildred T. (Pennington) Poeta, 87

Mildred T. (Pennington) Poeta, 87, Punxsutawney, formerly of Rossiter, died Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center surrounded by family.

She was born Sept. 4, 1923, in Punxsutawney, the daughter of the late Daniel and Nancy (Tozar) Pennington. She grew up in McGees Mills.
Dec. 31, 1943, she married Frank Poeta, who preceded her in death Oct. 12, 1979. The couple owned Poeta Trucking of Rossiter for more than 40 years.

Mrs. Poeta was a homemaker and the last surviving sibling of her two brothers and five sisters.
