Mary W. Miller, 90, of Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at home.
She was born Jan. 3, 1924, in Millersburg, Ohio, a daughter of the late William J. and Sarah (Schrock) Weaver.
She was the wife of Eli J. Miller. He preceded her in death.
Katherine E. â€śKatchâ€ť Shiock, 83, Punxsutawney, died Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Wellington Heights Personal Care Home.
She was born April 15, 1931, in Anita, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Vosko) Lavosky.
On Aug. 18, 1956, she married Bernard J. Shiock, who preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 2003.
She was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Anita.
She worked at the Adrian Hospital as an X-ray tech for 20 years and then worked for the district magistrateâ€™s office.
She enjoyed listening to polka music, singing and dining out.
Betty Jane Snyder, 75, went home to be with her Lord on Friday morning, April 11, 2014, at her home in Hamilton, Pa.
Betty was born Jan., 11, 1939, a daughter of the late Joseph and Elma (Newcome) Bish in Coolspring, Pa.
She was married on May 21, 1960, to Verner Snyder, who preceded her in
Betty is survived by one brother, Richard Bish of DuBois; a daughter, Amy Murphy, and son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Leslie (Lyle) Snyder of Hamilton; and grandchildren Sara Murphy and Becky and Joey Snyder of Hamilton.
Mary J. â€śJosephineâ€ť Justice, 97, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at AM-PM Personal Care Home in DeLancey.
She was born Dec. 20, 1916, in Porter Township, a daughter of the late Samuel and Ruth (Barnett) Justice.
She grew up on a farm near Porter. She worked at Loree Footware Shoe Factory as a sewer for 30 years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Mary Justice of Punxsutawney;
W. Ray Hetrick, 85, of Erie, formerly of Pansy-Ringgold Road, died Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Brevillier Village in Erie.
Born Jan. 5, 1929, in Pansy, Pa., he was the son of the late William Carlton Hetrick and Ida Young Hetrick.
He attended Brookville High School and later received his GED.
He was married to Frances A. Batina on May 4, 1932, at the St. Charles Catholic Church in New Bethlehem. She preceded him in death on Oct. 12, 2010.
William L. "Yank" Klohr, 58, of Marion Center, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Mr. Klohr was born June 8, 1955, in Rochester Mills, a son of the late George F. Klohr, Sr. and Nancy (Orcutt) Klohr.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War.
Yank loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and riding four-wheelers.
Betty Jane Hinkle, 94, Punxsutawney, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville.
Betty was born in Butler County on Oct. 2, 1919, the daughter of Gertrude (Clark) and Clifford Heeter.
On Oct. 31, 1940, she married William J. Hinkle of Punxsutawney. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1988.
She graduated as valedictorian in 1935 from Ss. Cosmas and Damian High School.
She retired from the B&O Railroad as a weigh master clerk after 40 years of service.
Grace M. Huber, 92, Marchand, died Friday, May 2, 2014, at Wellington Heights in Punxsutawney.
She was born Oct. 10, 1921, in Vandergrift, a daughter of the late Jerry and Lena (Johns) Huber.
She was a member of the Marchand United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.
She was the guardian for her nieces, Elena and Sheila Dorr, and her nephew, Karl Van Huber.
Ruth Helen Bloom, 93, of Big Run, formerly of Troutville, died Friday, May 2, 2014, at DuBois Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Grampian (Chestnut Grove), the daughter of the late Milard and Sophia Sheesley Bloom.
She was a homemaker and founding member of the Bible Fellowship Church in Chestnut Grove.
She was very active with the development of the church from the beginning.
She also loved spending time with her family.
Michael Joseph Dubensky, 83, of Punxsutawney, died Friday, May 2, 2014, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
He was born Aug. 16, 1930, in Adrian Hospital, a son of the late Peter and Anna (Kostiak) Dubensky.
Mr. Dubensky was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Michael was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Byzantine Church.
He was married to the former Elizabeth L. Williams. She preceded him in death in 1977.
Michael shared 30 years of his life with Doris June Ansinger. She survives and resides in Punxsutawney.
