Joyce L. Keeler, 74

Joyce L. Keeler, 74, of Garnerville, N.Y., and Ballston Spa, N.Y., went to be with her Lord Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at her daughter’s home in Ballston Spa.

She was born June 9, 1937, in Camden, N.J., a daughter of the late Rev. Jesse and Edith (Oberholtzer) Stayer.

She was married to Harry E. Keeler, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Keeler was a graduate of Collegeville Trappe High School and attended Millersville College.

She worked for many years in real estate and property management. She retired in 2001 as executive director of Indian River Estates in Vero Beach, Fla.

William C. Lingenfelter, 82

William C. Lingenfelter, 82, Punxsutawney, a guest at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center,  passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 3, 1928, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Edward Haag and Ada Lingenfelter.

He was Methodist by faith.

Mr. Lingenfelter was a member of the Punxsutawney Eagles and the Army Navy Club. He loved hunting, fishing playing guitar and country music.

Mary (McCurry) Minster, 57

Mary (McCurry) Minster, 57, Punxsutawney, passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2011.

She was the daughter of Charlotte McCurry of Bakerstown and the late John McCurry.

She was married to Ernest J. Minster, who survives.

Mrs. Minster’s compassion and kindness was great, and she gave all for her family. She extended her heart to all and her love was felt by many.

Her commitment to caring for all children was demonstrated through her service as a catechism teacher and school board member.

Rita A. (Bianco) Puglese, 76

Rita A. (Bianco) Puglese, 76, Orlando, Fla., passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011.

She was born Dec. 22, 1934, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary (Liptak) Bianco.

She was married to Samuel J. Puglese, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Puglese enjoyed dancing, playing cards, cheering on the Buffalo Bills, swimming in her pool, telling stories of her full and adventurous life and cooking for her friends, family and anyone else who walked through the door.

Mary (McCurry) Minster, 57, Punxsutawney, passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2011.

Lucinda Lee Shrecengost, 59

Lucinda Lee Shrecengost, 59, Mercer, passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at her home.

She was born March 9, 1952, in Kittanning, a daughter of the late Clifford and Eleanor (Marshall) Shaffer.

Ms. Shrecengost was a retired seamstress, having worked for 13 years at Sportswear in Punxsy and for nine-and-a-half years at G&K in Sharon.
In her free time, she enjoyed quilting, and cross stitching.

Merrian L. Sherry, 68

Merrian L. Sherry, 68, Punxsutawney, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at UPMC Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh.

She was born Jan. 23, 1943, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late John K. and Bernice L. (Shirey) Sherry.

Miss Sherry worked for Loree Footwear, starting in 1959. Later, she was employed by National City Bank for 19 years and Marion Center Bank for 11 years.

Her life revolved around her family and friends. She loved traveling and was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Karen Elaine Deats, 52, DuBois, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at DuBois Regional Medical Center, DuBois.

She was born Sept. 29, 1958, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Leroy and Lois (Peace) Cressley.

Ms. Deats was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Big Run.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Rebecca Milliron and husband Dallas of Punxsutawney, and Judy Deats of Punxsutawney; and three grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Cressley.

Mary Belle (Finch) Mottern Michaels, 82

September 13, 2011

Mary Belle (Finch) Mottern Michaels, 82, of Sprankle Mills, went to be with the Lord Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, while at home.

She was born July 16, 1929, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Martin E. and Pearl (Neville) Finch.

Mary Belle married Cloy “Joe” Mottern, who preceded her in death. 

Oct. 30, 2002, she married Joseph “Bert” Michaels, who survives.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed. She enjoyed eating at Punxsy Phil’s and the Country Villa.
