Margaret L. Stiteler Orr, 70, of Indiana, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at UPMC Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born in 1941 in North Mahoning Township, a daughter of the late James H. and June L. (Van Horn) Coon.
She married Richard Orr, who survives, of Indiana.
Mrs. Orr was an active member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Smicksburg for her entire life.
She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her family.
Floyd Melvin Stanford, 90, passed away peacefully Nov. 16, 2011, at the Veterans' Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas.
He was born Jan. 10, 1921, in Rimersburg, a son of the late Richard M. Stanford and Gertrude (Bell) Stanford.
June 26, 1941, he married Dorothy Aldine (Mottern) Stanford.
They had three children, Carol Kay Stanford and Ricky Vay Stanford, both of Bryan, Texas, and the late Richard Ray Stanford. They also had nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Dannie Allen Austin, 65, Punxsutawney, passed away, Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011.
He was born June 14, 1946, in Hanson, Ky., a son of the late Rufus Elbert and Girdie Lee (Ruby) Austin.
He was married to Christine J. (Stoffella) Austin, who survives, for 31 years.
Mr. Austin loved his family and friends above all else. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
Donald J. Frye, 65, DuBois, died suddenly at home Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011.
He was born July 8, 1946, in Rochester Mills, a son of the late Blair and Edna (Leasure) Frye.
He was married to Karen (Shaffer) Frye, who survives.
Mr. Frye served for 15 years with Company B, 728th Maintenance Battalion of the Clearfield National Guard. He was a retired railroad trackman for the B&O and Conrail Railroads.
He was a volunteer for the AARP and Protestant by faith, an active member of the Tri-County Church of God.
John A. (Bid) Pape Sr., 93, of Punxsutawney, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at St. Andrews Village in Indiana.
He was born April 5, 1918, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Carmen and Concetta (Nace) Pape.
Feb. 3, 1940, he married Carolyn (Brown) Pape, who preceded him in death April 9, 1991.
Mr. Pape was a member of Ss. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church.
He was an avid boxer and baseball player in his youth and went on to play professional baseball as a catcher with the Detroit Tigers in 1941.
Ruth L. McHenry-Coe, 95, formerly of Punxsutawney, passed away Dec. 9, 2011, at Lincoln Glen Nursing Home in San Jose, Calif.
She was born Oct. 14, 1916, in North Point, a daughter of the late Aubrey Gould and Lucy Marie (Cassiday) McHenry. She was the second of seven children.
She married Robert Coe, who preceded her in death in 1996.
Mrs. McHenry-Coe served in the Navy in World War II.
William Paul Smochek, 88, DuBois, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at home.
He was born July 16, 1923, in Mahaffey, the son of the late Frank and Rose (Mrozek) Smocek.
He was married to Lois Pearl (Bell) Smochek, who survives.
Mr. Smochek was a famer and miner, and he worked in the construction business, retiring from PennDOT.
He was Catholic by faith.
Mary L. Moyer, 96, Doylestown, formerly of Rossiter, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Doylestown.
She was born June 24, 1915, in Bitumen, a daughter of the late Matthew and Mary (Krempasky) Pisarchik.
She married Frank J. Moyer, who preceded her in death March 6, 2007.
Mrs. Moyer was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Rossiter.Â
She loved quilting, cooking and sewing.
Thomas â€śTomâ€ť L. DeFazio Sr., 65, DuBois, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at the DuBois Nursing Home, DuBois.
He was born April 19, 1946, in Punxsutawney, the only son of the late James and Rose DeFazio.
He was married for 31 years to the late Frances E. DeFazio, joined in union Nov. 20, 1965. She preceded him in death April 15, 1997.
Mr. DeFazio was retired. He was previously employed by Owens-Illinois Brockway and was the owner and manager of DeFazioâ€™s Tasty Freeze in Brookville for 13 years.
Billy M. Shaffer, 82, Worthville, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Sept. 20, 1929, in Ringgold, a son of the late Arthur and Gussie (Shick) Shaffer.
He was married to Ethel W. (Goodheart) Shaffer, who preceded him in death May 14, 2001.
