John J. Capitanelli, 86, of Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at Wellington Heights in Punxsutawney.
He was born Nov. 22, 1927, in Adrian, the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Corresi) Capitanelli.
He was a welder by trade in the construction industry.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Marilyn Mumaw
At the family's request, there will be no public visitation.
Nancy Lee Carlton, 80, of Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at home.
She was born May 7, 1933, in Punxsutawney, the daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth (Morris) Barnoff.
She was married to Pierre "Pete" E. Carlton, who survives.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Punxsutawney Garden Club.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years; two daughters, Lorna Ondrasik and husband Robert of Brookville and Hallie Carlton and friend Marsha Emhoff and her son Leif Perry of Punxsutawney; and by one brother, Robert Barnoff and wife Norma of State College, Pa.
Sylvia A. Defelice, 87, of Punxsutawney, passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at home.
She was born Jan. 27, 1926, in Punxsutawney, the daughter of the late Everett and Artella (Graffius) Carzelli.
Mrs. Defelice was preceded in death by her husband, Carmine J. Defelice.
Sylvia loved watching cooking shows.
She is survived by one son, William E. Defelice and wife Linda of Punxsutawney; two daughters, Janet Accamondo and husband Don of McArthur, Calif., and Becky Hetrick and significant other Jay Crystal of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Ramona J. "Sis" Strange, 85, of Punxsutawney, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at home.
She was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Raymond Melborn and Florence Ella (Wells) Shick.
In 1964, she married the love of her life, Jack D. Strange, "JD Strange" as he was known by many.
They loved to dance with one another, enjoyed training horses and raising Banty chickens for show and won every ribbon possible.
He preceded her in death on April 7, 1999.
She had a love of animals and enjoyed caring for stray cats and feeding the birds.
Charles Theodore Kuchar, 60, of Punxsutawney, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at Wellington Heights in Punxsutawney.
He was born May 14, 1953, in Kittanning, Pa., the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Lenzi) Kuchar.
He was a logger in the timber industry.
He is survived by his longtime friend and companion, Diane Neville of Punxsutawney.
Doris Ann Gearhart, 78, of Mahaffey, passed away suddenly after a brief illness, on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
Mrs. Gearhart was born June 20, 1935, in Stranach, the daughter of the late Cecil and Ruth (Rafferty) Witherite.
She was married to Gerald "Red" Gearhart of Mahaffey. He survives.
Doris attended the CMA Church in Mahaffey.
She was the cookie and ladybug lady at Kuntz Motors.
Ruth I. Bussard, 85, of Dayton, Pa., passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at her home.
She was born Oct. 27, 1928, in Smicksburg, Pa., the daughter of Virgil C. and Ruth Isabell (McClelland) Stiteler, and was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Charles and Minnie (Wells) Stiteler.
Ruth was a resident of the Dayton area most of her life. She was a member of the Dayton United Methodist Church and was an active member of the United Methodist Women of DUMC.
Virginia June Wells, 78, of Hilliard, Fla., formerly of Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, in Hilliard.
Mrs. Wells was born July 31, 1935, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Raymond Sidney Manners and Violet (Burkett) Pyles.
She was married to James Dale Wells of Hilliard. He survives.
She was a member of the Gateway to Life Church of Hilliard.
Donald Charles Scott, 79, of Whitehall, (formerly of Rossiter), died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at Indiana Regional Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 13, 1934, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Charles and Hazel (Frampton) Scott.
In 1954, he married the former Mary Lea Rishell. She preceded him in death in 1986.
He later married Jennifer Bubula. She preceded him in death in 2007.
He previously worked as a logger and a heavy equipment mechanic, and he worked PACT Construction in Ringoes, N.J.
His favorite pastime was drinking and being with his friends at the clubs.
Jacquelyn Walker, 55, of Anita, died on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on April 6, 1958, in Punxsutawney, the daughter of John "Jack" Zeedick of Punxsutawney and Betty Jean (Schutz) Turley of Walla Walla, Wash.
She was married to David E. Walker, who survives.
She was a special needs bus aide/warehouse person/cafeteria aide/traffic director for the Punxsutawney Area School District.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at their camp along the Kinzua Dam in New York.
