Edna Marie Shaffer, 75

Edna Marie Shaffer, 75, Brookville, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011, at home.

She was born June 7, 1936, in Reynoldsville, a daughter of the late Donald S. and Arveda (Sprague) Reed.

April 12, 1958, she married John Irvin Shaffer, who survives.

Mrs. Shaffer was a member of the Ramsaytown United Methodist Church.
She was also a former member of Green Valley Grange and the Ramsaytown United Methodist Ladies’ Aid.

She enjoyed being with her family, reading and knitting.

Madeline C. (Jesensky) McPhee, 92

Madeline C. (Jesensky) McPhee, 92, passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2011.
She was born and raised in Punxsutawney.

She was married to her husband, Samuel McPhee, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. McPhee was a resident of Clifton, N.J., for 54 years, was a graduate of SS.C.D. and was employed as a registered nurse.

She was a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Clifton, where she was also a member of the Rosary Society.

Ann M. Wehrle, 83

Ann M. Wehrle, 83, Punxsutawney, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at Mahoning Riverside Manor, Punxsutawney.

She was born March 1, 1928, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late James and Irene (Kline) McCullough.

June 27, 1948, she married Thomas J. Wehrle, who preceded her in death June 2, 1985.

Mrs. Wehrle was a member of Ss. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church.
She was also a member of Catholic Daughters of America and the Rosary Altar Society.

Richard C. Perry, 82

Richard C. Perry, 82, Punxsutawney, passed away, Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born April 28, 1929, in Frostburg, a son of the late Antonio and Anna Rose (Bianco) Perry.

March 3, 1948, he married Agnes (Smouse) Perry, who survives, of Frostburg.

Mr. Perry was the owner and founder of Perry Drilling. He was also a life-long farmer. He was a former Boy Scout leader and the former director for Patrons Mutual Fire Insurance Company.

Dorothy M. Reitz, 84

Dorothy M. Reitz, 84, Reynoldsville, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, in DuBois, at the home of her granddaughter.

She was born Aug. 8, 1927, in Sagamore, the daughter of the late Robert and Fannie (Knarr) Long.

July 23, 1949, she married Charles E. Reitz, who preceded her in death Feb. 13, 1968.

Mrs. Reitz was a retired employee from Christ the King Manor in DuBois.
She was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in DuBois.

Virginia M. Kaylor, 72

Virginia M. Kaylor, 72, Rossiter, passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at Altoona Regional Health System.

She was born March 21, 1939, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Charles and Hazel (Grube) Pearce.

She was married to Harry L. Kaylor, who survives, of Rossiter.

In addition to her husband, surviving relatives include a son, Charles Kaylor and wife Valerie of Rossiter; a daughter, Virginia May Geers and husband Danny of Michigan; two brothers, John Pearce and Frank Pearce, both of Rossiter; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Henry J. “Guy” Brink, 84

Henry J. “Guy” Brink, 84, Glen Campbell, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at the Indiana Regional Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 13, 1927, in Glen Campbell, Banks Township, a son of the late Edward “Fats” and Anna (Janocha) Brink.
April 19, 1952, he married his wife of 59 years, Charlotte C. (Hollen) Brink, who survives..

Mr. Brink served as a private in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1946 to 1947.

Clarence Eugene Swarmer, 72

Clarence Eugene Swarmer, 72, of Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at home.

He was born April 19, 1939, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Robert and Margaret Bonelle (Fullerton) Swarmer.

Sept. 13, 1975, he married the former Shirley Ann Daisher, who survives.

Mr. Swarmer served his country during the Vietnam era as a U.S. Marine and later served in the Army National Guard.

He worked as a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation driver’s license examiner in Punxsutawney.

Mazie L. Weaver, 88

Mazie L. Weaver, 88, a native of Punxsutawney and resident of Fairhope, Ala., went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Monday, Oct. 17, 2011.

She was the daughter of the late Frank and Bertha Shaffer.

She was married to William C. Weaver, who preceded her in death.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Gayle Mallory and her husband Robert; two brothers, Frank Shaffer and wife Marion, and Joseph Shaffer and wife Patricia; and two sisters, Bertha Harrold and husband LeRoy, and Frances Rowe.

Bonnie Jo (Poole) Yohe, 47

Bonnie Jo (Poole) Yohe, 47, of Brookville, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at home.

She was born Sept. 10, 1964, in Indiana, a daughter of the late Robert W. and Shirley Jane (Clark) Poole Sr.

She was a 1983 graduate of Jeff Tech.

Ms. Yohe worked for Sheetz Inc. in Reynoldsville’ and Brookville for 22 years.

She enjoyed riding her four-wheeler, camping, horses and Amateur Radio. She was a jokester and was always pulling pranks on someone.  She liked everybody.
