Irene Catherine “Cathy” Ruth Hamner, 66

Irene Catherine “Cathy” Ruth Hamner, 66, Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at home.

She was born Nov. 7, 1945, in Ligonier, a daughter of the late John and Elsie (Queer) Brown.

Sept. 22, 1972, she married Ronald E. Hamner, who survives.

Mrs. Hamner attended the Assembly of God Church, and she enjoyed her family and bluegrass music.

Irene Elizabeth Meterko, 84

Irene Elizabeth Meterko, 84, Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Sept. 4, 1927, at home in Bell Township, a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Melechik) Carol. She lived her entire life on the family property where she was born.

June 25, 1949, she married William Henry Meterko, who survives.

Her husband said that she was the greatest woman that he has ever known.

They would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this year.

Harry A. Young, 78

Harry A. Young, 78, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Christ the King Manor, DuBois.

He was born Jan. 10, 1934, in DuBois, a son of the late John and Priscilla (Charlton) Young.

Dec. 1, 1955, he married Barbara Ann (Broecker) Young, who survives.

Mr. Young worked as a driller for the coal industry, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his dog, Shadow.

Richard Earl Shotts, 55

June 5, 2012

Richard Earl Shotts, 55, Rural Valley, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012.

He was born Nov. 17, 1956, in Kittanning, a son of Dorothy (McCausland) Shotts, who survives, and the late Lynn Murray Shotts, who preceded him in death Dec. 31, 2008.

May 27, 1978, he married Candice (Cooper) Shotts, who survives.

Mr. Shotts worked in the maintenance department at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and was a retired coal miner.

He was a member of local Union No. 488 and the National and PA Trappers Associations.

June 4, 2012

Ramona Kathryn McAninch Hilliard, 83, of Longview Road, Fairmount City, Redbank Township, Clarion County, died Monday, June 4, 2012, following a brief illness.

She was born Jan. 23, 1929, in Hawthorn, a daughter of Inez Neil and Henry Claude McAninch.

She was married Nov. 14, 1948, to Blair Hilliard, who preceded her in death May 2, 1986.

Mrs. Hilliard was a graduate of Hawthorn High School, a homemaker and had been employed at the G.C. Murphy Store in New Bethlehem. In her earlier years, she worked as a caregiver.

Janina H. Brewer, 92, Reynoldsville, died Sunday, June 3, 2012, at home.

She was born Dec. 9, 1919, in Elenora, a daughter of the late Fred and Mary (Killian) Wisneski.

Feb. 29, 1938, she married Raymond L. Brewer, who preceded her in death April 23, 1973.

Mrs. Brewer was a 1938 graduate of Reynoldsville High School.

She retired from Loree Footware in Big Run after 16 years of service.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Reynoldsville.

Kenneth L. Dobson, 88

Kenneth L. Dobson, 88, Valier, died Sunday, June 3, 2012, in Johnstown.

He was born Sept. 14, 1923, in Oliveburg, a son of the late Roy and Anna (Himes) Dobson.

March 15, 1947, he married Anita Jane Mahan, who preceded him in death Dec. 3, 1980.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Falls Creek and the American Legion of DuBois.

He was a painter, a farmer, and a truck driver, and he enjoyed being outdoors.

Daniel Mark Royer, 49

Daniel Mark Royer, 49, Sunbury, died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at home.

He was born Nov. 27, 1962, in Brookville, a son of Raymond Royer and Sue (Haslett) Lambermont.

In addition to his parents, surviving relatives include a son, Dustin Royer of Meadville; and two sisters, Wendie Reddinger of Ebensburg and Kelly Day of Punxsutawney.

At the family's request, there will be no visitation, and services will be private.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home.

She was born Dec. 7, 1933, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of Paul E. and Madeline (McGovern) Wehrle, the youngest of 13 children.
