Burton L. Mottern Sr., 83, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at his home.
He was born Feb. 28, 1928, in Dora, a son of the late Irvin M. and Dora (Geist) Mottern.
Mr. Mottern was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Air Force.
March 30, 1949, he married Betty (Vallies) Mottern, who survives, of Punxsutawney.
Mr. Mottern was a member of the Punxsutawney Eagles and the United Mine Workers Union.
Oliver H. Snyder Jr., 72, Punxsutawney, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at his home.
He was born March 1, 1939, in DuBois, a son of the late Oliver H. and Margaret M. (Mirandi) Snyder Sr.
He was married to Heidi (Scarletta) Snyder, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Snyder was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served as a private in the U.S. Army.
He was a truck driver for Krise Bus Company and a member of the National Rifle Association.
March 1st
Thressa Ann Guinen, 56, Big Run, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at home.
 She was born April 3, 1955, in DuBois, a daughter of Joseph and Clara (Perkowski) Agnello, who survive, of Anita.
 Ms. Guinen loved shopping at Goodwill, yard sales and garage sales. She enjoyed helping others and had previously worked as a caregiver.
 On her roughest day, she always made people laugh, and she dearly loved her children and grandchildren.
February 28th
Earlajane Burkett, 87, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at the DuBois Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 31, 1923, the daughter of the late Howard A. and Edna (Nichols) Jones.
Jan. 6, 1943, she married Kermith F. Burkett, who preceded her in death July 26, 2000.
Mrs. Burkett was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Punxsutawney, and she was a retired employee of J.C. Penney of Punxsutawney.
Nancy L. McGaffic, 69, New Castle and Jefferson County, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Brookville Hospital after a short illness.
She was born Jan. 16, 1942, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Orloff D. and Garnet W. (Linton) Hoover.
June 8, 2001, she married Joseph McGaffic, who survives.
Mrs. McGaffic graduated from New Castle High School and later studied nursing.
She was employed as a hostess at the Meadows off-track racing center in New Castle for 15 years and retired in 2004.

Benjamin W. Kelsey, 31, of, Chicora, Bradys Bend Township, Armstrong County, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at Butler Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Kelsey was born Jan. 4, 1980, in Punxsutawney, the son of Bryan and Kim (Dinger) Kelsey of Chicora.
He was a 1998 graduate of Karns City High School. Mr. Kelsey attended the Chicora Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. He loved the Lord and he would witness to those he talked to online.Â
He enjoyed radio controlled vehicles, drawing, and the company of his family and friends.
Forrest "Skip" Clair Milliron, 75, Warren, passed away peacefully into eternal life Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Cleveland Clinic of natural causes.
He was born Feb. 20, 1936, in Perry Township, the son of the late Forrest Clinton and Letha Luella (Vasbinder) Milliron.
He married the love of his life, Lori Hogue, July 13, 1986, and they enjoyed 24 years of marriage together.
Doug L. Sprankle, 55, Rossiter, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at Treasure Lake, DuBois.
He was born May 13, 1955, in Punxsutawney, a son of Merle "PeeWee" Sprankle and Sally (White) Sprankle, who survive.
May 30, 2001, he married Melissa (Guidash) Sprankle of Rossiter, who survives.
Mr. Sprankle worked for Davey Tree Experts for many years. He loved life and was loved by all who knew him for his humor and friendship. His two pugs, Lizzy and Willie, were a joy to him.
February 25th
Marilyn Atkinson, 80, born and raised in Punxsutawney, died suddenly Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at her home on South Main Street.
She was born Nov. 16, 1930, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Leroy Charles and Kathryn (Downey) Mitchell.
She was a 1948 graduate of Punxsutawney High School.
February 24th
Kathleen Ann "Kass" Deyarmin, 44, Punxsutawney, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at UPMC-Mercy in Pittsburgh.
She was born Sept. 20, 1966, in Warren, Ohio, a daughter of Richard W. Deyarmin of Cherry Tree and Kathryn (Rafferty) Deyarmin of Youngsville, who survive.
Miss Deyarmin was a devoted animal lover. This love of all animals led her to rescue as many as she could. In addition to many interests, she was always an avid reader.
