Margaret M. Moran, 72, Ridgway, died peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at Elk Haven Nursing Home, after a long illness of rheumatoid arthritis.
She was born Aug. 24, 1938, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late James B. and Gertrude O. (O’conner) Quinlisk.
July 4, 1959, she married John T. Moran, who survives.
Mrs. Moran resided in Ridgway since 1967 and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church, the IU9 Advisory Committee, the PTA and the Eagles Club Auxillary.
She was a homemaker.
February 8th
Kathryn L. Mills, 92, Punxsutawney (Fairview), died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at Laurelbrooke Landing, Brookville.
She was born Feb. 4, 1919, in Tylersburg, a daughter of the late Frank and Ruth Fraizer.
Aug. 8, 1936, she married James Robert Mills, who preceded her in death Sept. 4, 1993.
Mrs. Mills was a former employee of Loree Footwear, Grant’s and worked at the family fruit stand.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and enjoyed playing the piano and listening to people sing.

Elmer L. Hughes, 88, Westover, passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at Clearfield Hospital.

Mr. Hughes was born Sept. 5, 1922. in La Jose, a son of the late Bert J. Hughes and Willimina (Young) Hughes.

He married Beverly June (Cullen) Hughes, May 12, 1951, who survives.
He was a member of the East Ridge United Methodist Church, the Harmony Grange # 1201, Coalport Lodge # 574 and F.A.M. 33rd Degree.
Martha Irene (Zimmerman) Rehar, 78, Punxsutawney, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at Christ the King Manor, DuBois.
Mrs. Zimmerman was born May 3, 1932, in Henderson Township, a daughter of Walter and Ada (Weber) Zimmerman, who preceded her in death.
Feb. 16,1963, she married Luttie W. Rehar, who survives.
Mrs. Rehar was a graduate of Big Run High School, class of 1950. She was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish and the Rosary Society in Sykesville.

Janice (Erdesky) Lissy, 65, Lewes, Del., died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, of multiple myeloma cancer.
She grew up in a military family, living in Punxsutawney, as well as California, Puerto Rico and Maryland.
She was married to Paul Lissy, who survives.
Mrs. Lissy earned her B.A., M.A., and MLS degrees from the University of Maryland at College Park. She met and married her husband while both were students at the university.
Her career as an English teacher and media specialist with the Montgomery County, Md., public school system spanned more than three decades.

Donald L. Brothers, 68, of Palmer, Alaska, died Jan. 31, 2011, at his home.
He was born Sept. 18, 1942 in Dayton, a son of the late Clair and Jessie Elizabeth (Neville) Brothers.

He attended school in Punxsutawney, graduating with the Punxsutawney High School Class of 1960.Â
Jan. 26, 1962, in Wichita Falls, Texas, he was united in marriage with his wife of 49 years, Mary Ann Wilson, who survives.

Stanley F. “Rabbie” Stewart, 92, of Clarence, passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, at his home.
He was born Nov. 16, 1918, in Ringgold, a son of the late Cameron M. and Ann A. (Lingenfelter Stewart).
Nov. 3, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio, he married Edythe M. Pierson, who preceded him in death March 27, 1996.
Mr. Stewart was a 1938 graduate of Punxsutawney High School. He was Protestant by faith.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, where he became a Prisoner of War. He also served during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.
Carl H. McKee, 94, Rossiter, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at DuBois Nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 8, 1916, in Banks Township, Indiana County, a son of the late John W. and Dora C. (Houck) McKee.
He was a graduate of Glen Campbell High School.
Mr. McKee was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in Germany and France.
Jan. 15, 1947, he married Elizabeth Kinter of Marion Center, who preceded him in death May 20, 1995.
Mr. McKee was a member of Steffy United Methodist Church, where he also taught Sunday School for a number of years.
Cecelia L. Foster, 81, Punxsutawney, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at UPMC-Northwest Hospital.
She was born Aug. 26, 1929, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of Jay V. and Martha (Null) McHenry.
She was married to Darrel Foster, who preceded her in death in 1977.
Mrs. Foster was retired from Punxsutawney Area Hospital as a cook. She was a member of Free Grace Church, West End, Punxsutawney.
Richard Q. "Rich" States, 84, of Rossiter, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born March 8, 1926, in Rossiter, a son of the late Reed and Edna (Henry) States.
Mr. States served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Medal.
He was retired from the DG Mock Company.
Mr. States enjoyed his truck and his tractor.
