Celestine M. Chenoga, 88

February 6, 2012

Celestine M. Chenoga, 88, Rossiter, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born May 14, 1923, in DeLancey, a daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Runko) Lesnick.

Oct. 9, 1940, she married Louis Chenoga, who preceded her in death Nov. 28, 1985.

She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Rossiter.

Mrs. Chenoga enjoyed cooking, crocheting, spending time with her family and grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Cooper.

She worked at Rola Jensen in Punxsutawney.

Harold F. Divelbiss, 90

Harold F. Divelbiss, 90, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born March 3, 1921, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Roy and Jessie (Morris) Divelbiss.

June 17, 1950, in Ford City, he married Anna Belle Tibby, who survives.

Mr. Divelbiss was a member of the Punxsutawney Presbyterian Church, as well as the Punxsutawney Country Club, American Legion Post 62 and the Central Fire Company for 42 years.

He was also a former coach and then a player agent for the Groundhog Little League.

Loretta G. Bartasavich, 83

Loretta G. Bartasavich, 83, DuBois, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at her residence.

She was born July 31, 1928, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late John J. and Sara (Taraskiewicz) Guzzy.

Aug. 27, 1949, she married John J. Bartasavich, who preceded her in death Nov. 7, 2006.

She retired as a medical secretary from the DuBois Regional Medical Center after more than 20 years of service.

Mrs. Bartasavich was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Infant of Prague Society.

She was also a member of the Friendly Club.

Judy Kay Bowser, 58

Judy Kay Bowser, 58, Punxsutawney, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born July 20, 1953, in Punxsutawney, the daughter of the late Charles and Emily (Strawcutter) Lingenfelter.

She was married to Richard W. Bowser, who survives.

Mrs. Bowser was a nurse's aide.

Joseph M. Carney Jr., 49

February 2, 2012

Joseph M. Carney Jr., 49, Norfolk, Va., died Jan. 26, 2012, in Virginia Beach, Va.

He was born in DuBois.

Mr. Carney was a concrete supervisor for J.M. Briggs Concrete Company.

He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed riding his Harley with his friends. He enjoyed life to the fullest.

Timothy M. Kellert, 48

Timothy M. Kellert, 48, Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville.

He was born Nov. 22, 1963, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Warren A. and Mary E. (Gigliotti) Kellert.

Mr. Kellert was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Ss. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church, as well as the Punxsutawney Moose 954 and the Walston Club.

Donald Jacob Brocious, 85

Donald Jacob Brocious, 85, Brookville, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville.

He was born March 22, 1926, in Mayport, Redbank Township, Armstrong County, a son of Oren C. and Mary (Milliron) Brocious.

He attended the Salem school and worked in the coal mines and construction.

He served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army.

Carole M. Hipps, 71

February 1, 2012

Carole M. Hipps, 71, Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at home.

She was born May 6, 1940, in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Presley J. and Carolyn (DeHaas) Strunk.

June 2, 1962, she married William G. Hipps, who preceded her in death Dec. 23, 2002.

Mrs. Hipps was a graduate of Curwensville High School.

Gale L. Shields, 64

Gale L. Shields, 64, Rossiter, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, in San Tan Valley, Ariz.

He was born April 1, 1947, in Indiana, a son of the late Lynn Shields and Velma (Gowin) of Glen Campbell.

June 4, 1966, he married Donna (Filler) Shields, who survives.

Mr. Shields attended the Canoe Ridge Church of God and was a member of the John W. Jenks Lodge No. 534. He earned his B.S. in education from Slippery Rock University, where he also played baseball for four years.

He still holds a record there for catching his senior year with no errors.

Paul Wachob, 52, Prospect, Tenn., passed away Friday, Jan. 27, 2012.

He was born Feb. 7, 1959, a son of Viola L. (Blondie) Bodenhorn Wachob and the late Lyman Wachob.

Mr. Wachob was a truck driver.

In addition to his mother, surviving relatives include a daughter, Charity Hollingsworth and husband Mike of Minor Hill, Tenn.; a son, Kent Wachob and wife Leslie of Prospect; a sister, Helen Booth and companion Ron Baker of Salem, Ind.; two brothers, Harry Boyd Wachob and wife Carolyn, and Jacob E. Wachob and wife Wanda, all of Punxsutawney; and four grandchildren.
