Jack H. Dodson, 75, of Greensburg, formerly of Marion Center, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Westmoreland Manor.
He was born July 26, 1937, in Rochester Mills, a son of the late Richard and Alta (Henry) Dodson.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Dodson had been employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
He was an Army member and a life member of the AMVETS Post 88 and South Greensburg Hunt club.
He was also a member of the VFW Post 33, the Loyal Order of the Moose 1151, both of Greensburg, and the American Legion Post 981 of South Greensburg.
Robert E. Vallies, 74, of Punxsutawney, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Vallies was born Jan. 18, 1938, in DuBois, a son of the late Leon Vallies and Nellie (Brocious) Vallies.
He worked for Ames Lumber Company, Bullers Coal Mines & Doverspike Brothers Coal Company before retiring.
Robert is survived by his wife, Alice (Beck) Vallies of Punxsutawney.
Ora S. White, 87, of Punxsutawney, went to be with her Lord, Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. White was born April 10, 1925, in East Run, a daughter of the late Glen Mountain and Alice (Mumau) Mountain.
She was married to Foster White, who preceded her in death in 1970. They spent most of their lives in Juneau and the Canoe Ridge area.
She was a member of the Canoe Ridge Church of God and an active member of the women's Missionary Society.
Edward C. Geist, 51, Punxsutawney, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012.
He was born in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Clair and Elsie (Burkett) Geist.
In October of 1985, he married Laurie J. DeFoor, who survives.
He was a member of the First Church of God of Punxsutawney.
Mr. Geist enjoyed hunting and working, and he loved spending time with his family.
He was a well tender for J.R. Resources and worked for the company for 27 years.
Eugene J. "Luke" Blackburn, 84, of Home, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 29, 1928, a son of Matthew and Mary (Brindlinger) Blackburn, at Standard Shaft, Pa.
Eugene worked as a cable inspector for Alltel - Murrysville.
Luke was a World War II veteran serving in the Marines.
He was also a member of the Smicksburg Lutheran Church, Sagamore VFW, Punxsutawney Legion and owned Luke's Sporting Supply.
William E. Van Horn, 79, Dayton, was at home with his wife when he was ushered joyfully to Heaven and into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 4, 2012.
Mr. Van Horn was born on Nov. 23, 1932, in Kittanning and was the third child of Dorsey and Berdella (Goldstrohm) Van Horn, who preceded him in death, along with a brother, Robert Van Horn and sister, Blanche (Roberts) Van Horn.
He married his high school sweetheart, Gail Schrecengost, on June 6, 1953, and they recently celebrated 59 years of marriage together.
Sally Anne (Getch) Breth, 81, of Punxsutawney, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
She was born Nov. 27, 1930, in Brookville, the daughter of the late Griffith Schreckengost and Mary Getch.
She was married to Duane Eugene Breth, who preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 2007.
She was a probation officer for Jefferson County Child Welfare/Adult Probation.
She loved working crossword puzzles and crocheting and had an extensive collection of angels.
She was also an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns.
Terrence Joseph Rhodes, 50, of Reynoldsville, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at the home of his daughter.
He was born July 7, 1962, in Syracuse, N.Y., a son of the late Scott Daniel Rhodes and Carol Ann (Darby) Kromer. His mother survives and resides in Punxsutawney.
Terry enjoyed raising his daughters and getting to enjoy his grandchildren.
He also enjoyed fishing, sitting around a campfire with friends and watching NASCAR races.
Annabelle Grace Yeaney, 90, of Mayport, Pa., passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, peacefully at her home.
She was born March 12, 1922, in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of the late William A. and Grace Genevive Smith.
April 18, 1941, she married her best friend, Woodrow W. Yeaney Sr. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1996.
Annabelle and her husband owned Anwood Farms in Mayport and The Halfway House Tavern in Shannondale, Pa.
Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mary Ruth Reitz, 81, of Laurelbrooke Landing, passed away at Brookville Hospital on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012.
She was born May 31, 1931, at Cloverdale Farm in Stanton, Pa., the youngest child of the late Harry Webster and Jessie Ruth (Brosius) Reitz.Â
She never married.
After graduating from Brookville High School and Grove City College with an associate degree, Mary Ruth worked as a secretary/bookkeeper at Brookville Equipment; as a secretary to Milton Eisenhower, president of Penn State; and as a secretary for James Hysong, superintendent of Brookville Area Joint Schools.
