Joseph Anthony Bianco, 75, Heilwood, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at home.
He was born Feb. 25, 1937, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Gigliotti) Bianco.
July 4, 1964, he married his beloved wife, Rosemary (Conway) Bianco, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Bianco obtained a bachelorâ€™s degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1963; a masterâ€™s degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1973; and a doctorate degree from Nova University in 1986.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1956 until 1962.
Bernard (Ben) J. Marasco, 79, of Santa Maria, Calif., died Wednesday, July 4, 2012.
He was born Aug. 8, 1932, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Rosario and Josephine (Serian) Marasco.
Jan. 30, 1954, he married the former Carol O'Leary, daughter of John and Winifred O'Leary.
Mr. Marasco attended elementary school in Walston and graduated from Ss. Cosmas & Damian High School in 1950.
He attended St. Vincent College in Latrobe for one year, then transferred to Gannon University in Erie and was a member of the first graduating class of the School of Engineering in 1955.
David Gillespie, of Punxsutawney, died Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Alexander P. and Vanda Von (Hoppe) Gillespie.
He relocated to Punxsutawney at a young age with his mother and sister, where he completed his secondary education.
After the death of his mother, Mr. Gillespie and his sister were raised by an aunt and uncle, the late Emma and Harry Gutelius.
Mr. Gillespie was a veteran of both the U.S. Air Force and the Army.
Marie Anna Petrick, 88, of New Alexandria, formerly of Indiana, went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 2, 2012.
She was born May 1, 1924, in Anita, a daughter of Michael and Mary (Gibart) Petrick.
Prior to her retirement, Miss Petrick had worked in retail sales.
She was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are two distant cousins, Francis E. and Joseph F. Renosky.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a cousin, Margaret (Barna) Renosky.
David Gillespie, Rossiter, died Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
Arrangements are incomplete and under the direction of the Shumaker Funeral Home Inc., Punxsutawney.
Paul Edward Montgomery, 84, Punxsutawney, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 30, 2012.
He was born Oct. 16, 1927, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late William H. and Edith (Ely) Montgomery.
Mr. Montgomery was employed for numerous years by Currys Supply Depot, located near Pittsburgh.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Montgomery resided in Pittsburgh for most of his life and was an avid sports fan of the Pirates and Penguins.
He enjoyed volunteering at food banks, gardening and meeting new people.
Ethel P. Smith White, 86, Indiana, died Friday, June 29, 2012, at Maple Valley Personal Care Home.
She was born Oct. 8, 1925, in Indiana, a daughter of the late Homer C. and Vera V. (States) Smith.
Mrs. White was a graduate of Laurel Lamar High School.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, cooking and baby-sitting her grandchildren.
Mrs. White was a member of the Alliance Church in Indiana and its Senior Citizenâ€™s Ladies of the Church.
Betty L. (Caldwell) Frantz, 90, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, in Colorado Springs, Colo., where she had resided for the last 39 years.
She was born Jan. 9, 1922, in Punxsutawney,Â and she was always a proud daughter of Punxsutawney.
Sept. 5, 1948, she married Robert Frantz, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Frantz graduated from high school in 1938 andÂ became a certified teacher in 1940, then a registeredÂ nurse in 1943.Â
In 1944, she entered the U.S. Army as a generalÂ nurse and served as a flight nurse fromÂ 1945 to 1947.Â
Paul Leon (Poke) Heitzenrater, 72, of Annapolis, Md., and Punxsutawney, died Monday, June 25, 2012, at home.
He was born April 20, 1940, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Vaughn H. and Ethel J. (Bodenhorn) Heitzenrater
Dec. 20, 1965, he married Ruth Ann (Whitesell) Heitzenrater, who survives.
Mr. Heitzenrater graduated in 1958 from the Punxsutawney Area High School.
During high school, he worked for Fleckâ€™s Beverages.
After graduation, he worked at Freas Brothers Garage before joining the U.S. Navy in 1959.Â
Isabella S. Green, 95, a guest at the Jefferson Manor and formerly of Brookville, died Friday, June 22, 2012, at Brookville Hospital.
She was born Nov. 15, 1916, in Brookville, a daughter of the late Vernon G. and Mertie (Ramer) Stewart.
Aug. 9, 1947, she married Joseph John Green, who preceded her in death April 21, 1988.
Mrs. Green was a homemaker and worked for the Brookville Glove Factory in her early years. During World War II, she moved to and worked in a factory in Philadelphia that made bomb making sites.
