Judy I. Stahlman, 63, of Punxsutawney, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
Miss Stahlman was born May 30, 1951, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Albert and June (Pope) Stahlman.
Judy was a professor at Cleveland State University for 28 years. She earned her bachelor's degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, her master's degree at Slippery Rock University and her doctorate at the University of Virginia in Charlottsville.
Paul M. Strong, 91, of Meadow Road, Punxsutawney, passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at Wellington Heights.
Mr. Strong was born May 7, 1923, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Lillian C. (Anderson) Strong.
On April 28, 2012, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Jane (Hicks) Strong. They were married on August 21, 1947.
He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy.
Charles Allen McGee, 89, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, at sunrise at Ivy Ridge in Alpharetta, Georgia.
Mr. McGee was born Feb. 16, 1925, in Warren, Ohio.
He was the son of the late Joseph A. and Ethel Mundorf McGee of Punxsutawney.
Mr. McGee was a retired pipefitter.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Jean Giffin McGee; sons Charles McGee, Jr. and wife Janet, Tom McGee and wife Claudette, Tim McGee and wife Karen and Mike McGee and wife Nancy; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Richard James Covatch, 80, of Punxsutawney, died on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at UPMC-Montefiore Medical Center in Pittsburgh.
He was born April 21, 1934, in Rossiter, the son of the late Charles and Mary Jane (Barnett) Covatch.
He was married for 50 years to Mary Louise (Maddox) Covatch, who preceded him in death on July 27, 2008.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of the American Legion.
He was a laborer in the construction industry for many years.
Jacqueline F. Kriner, 87, of Wishaw Road in Reynoldsville, died at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville.
Born on July 26, 1927 in Porter, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George I. Fordoski and Letha L. Freedline Fordoski.
On June 12, 1943, she married Chester B. Kriner, who preceded her in death on March 19, 2002.
Grace M. Courtwright Filer, 101, of Indiana, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, at Communities of Indian Haven.
She was born in 1913 in Rossiter, to Armour J. and Carrie Pearce McFarland.
Mrs. Filer was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Indiana, where she was active with the Golden Heirs Senior Group, the Alliance Women and served as a Sunday School teacher and Deaconess.
Betty Jane Brown, 69, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014 at home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Feb. 7, 1945, in Salisburg, Pa., the daughter of the late Donald L. and Beulah (Paulhamas) Roupp.
She married Ronald Brown, who survives, on June 16, 1962.
She was a homemaker.
Edna May Summerville, 90, of Hazen went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014.
She was born in 1924 to William J. and Helen (Bullers) Vasbinder in Hazen.
Edna was a member of the Hazen United Methodist Church, where she took the responsibility of church pianist at the age of 12 and retired at the age of 70 as the organist.
She was proud to be a lifelong resident of Hazen. Edna graduated from Brookville High School in 1942 and the DuBois Business College.
Peter David John Medley, 60, of Greensburg, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg.
He was born Sept. 8, 1954, in Melbourne, Australia, the son of the late David and Ruth (Crane) Medley.
He had been employed by NASA. He was a member of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greensburg, and was a veteran of the Air Force.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Christina Medley.
Punxsutawney native Frank A. Palmerino, 75, of Riverside, California, passed away on Sept. 28, 2014 in Riverside, California.
He was the son of Frank and Jessie (Carlino) Palmerino.
He is survived by his companion of 43 years, Ted McKinney of Riverside, California; three sisters, Adelaide Palmerino, Roseanne Fallara and Lucy Ivens, all of Punxsutawney; and two brothers, James Palmerino and Alfred Palmerino of Fremont, California.
