Gail E. Hockenberry, 64, of Punxsutawney, passed away Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at UPMC Pittsburgh, after a lengthy illness.
She was born May 13, 1950, in New Kensington, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Harry R. and Carrie E. (Henry) Gaul. She was married to Lee R. Hockenberry, who survives in Punxsutawney.
Gail is also survived by a daughter, Stacey Hockenberry of Latrobe, Pa.
Gail attended Plum Borough Schools, was a member of First Baptist Church in Big Run, and loved the outdoors. She lived most of her life in Punxsutawney.
Mary M. â€śBonnie" (Bianco) Britton, 80, of Falls Creek died Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at Penn Highlands, DuBois.
She was born on Aug. 14, 1934, in Walston, Pa., the daughter of the late Jacob and Pauline (Knopick) Bianco.
Mrs. Britton was a homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother.
Arlenna Louise Saffer, 76, of Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at home.
She was born on Aug. 12, 1938, in Punxsutawney, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Clara (Couch) Tyger.
She married James Walter Saffer in May 1957, who is a U.S. Navy veteran. He survives.
She previously worked at Rola Jensen and County Market for over 20 years.
Daniel Howard Reed, 70, of Reynoldsville, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at home.
He was born April 1, 1944, in DuBois, a son of the late Charles Ira and Ruth Lorraine (McAdoo) Reed.
On May 30, 1970, he married the former Deborah Cecelia Sones. She survives.
Mr. Reed was a station electrician for Penelec for 21 years. His hobbies were fishing, woodworking and gardening.
Robert E. Burns Sr, 84, of Fairview, passed away on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at the Erie Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
He was born in Reynoldsville, Pa. on July 7, 1930, to the late Edward C. Burns Jr. and Ruth G. (Bone) Burns.
Robert was raised and educated in Reynoldsville, graduating from Reynoldsville High School. After high school, he began working at Bussards Auto until he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served in the Korean Conflict. Robert received a Purple Heart for injuries he received while serving.
Peggy Ann Lloyd, 83, of Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at Jefferson Manor, Brookville.
Peggy Ann born Dec. 27, 1930, in Apollo, a daughter of the late McHenry and Chloe (Shuler) Postlewait.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Fuchs and husband Jeffrey of Syracuse, New York; sister Sally J. and husband Rev. James Lantz of Valier; granddaughters Leah Fuchs and partner Lars Kalnajs of Boulder, Colorado, and Marla Sendall and husband Tim of Cambridge, United Kingdom; great-grandsons Izaac and Amos Fuchs; and nieces and
Cheryl Marie Sibley McMinn, 88, formerly of Punxsutawney, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 3, at her home in Dunedin, Florida.
She was born Dec. 21,1925, in Brockway, to Lorena and Everett Sibley.
On Nov. 9, 1942, she married Wayne J. McMinn Sr., who preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 2009. They were members of the First United Methodist Church in Punxsutawney until they retired to Florida.
Cheryl worked as a secretary in the records department at the Adrian Hospital and retired as a secretary for the Pennsylvania State Police, Troop C in 1977.
James L. â€śSkipâ€ť Kunselman, 78, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at UPMC Hamot, following a brief illness.
He was born in Hamilton, Pa. on Oct. 28, 1936, a son of the late Oral and Mary Edna Kunselman.
Skip was employed at General Electric Co. until his retirement. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He collected beach glass and made beach glass jewelry.
Elsie E. â€śBettyâ€ť Zents, 89, of Brookville, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at Brookside Senior Living, Brookville.
She was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Brookville, a daughter of the Clarence W. and Rose Winters Dinger.
On May 5, 1950, she married the late Francis E. Zents, in Brookville. He preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2001.
For 41 years, she was co-owner and bookkeeper for Zents Brothers Construction in Brookville and also worked for several years at G.C. Murphy Company in Brookville.
Joe Lundy, 70, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, in Warren, with his family by his side.
He was born on July 15, 1944, in Punxsutawney, the son of Earl and Jane Lundy.
Joe graduated from Punxsutawney Area High School in 1962 and would go on to work at Van Huffel Tube and Vanex Tube. He retired in 2011.
In his free time, Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking, walking his dog, Molly, and NASCAR. Joe was also a member of the Bazetta Cortland Optimist Club and served as governor and president of the organization.
