Gayle A. Lines, 78

Gayle A. Lines, 78, DuBois, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014, at her home.

Born Dec. 10, 1935, in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Viola M. (Madsen) Leavitt.

On Dec. 18, 1954, she married William H. Lines Sr. in DuBois. He passed away March 30, 2003.

Gayle graduated from Sandy High School in 1953. She prided herself on being a homemaker.

As a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, she enjoyed singing in the church choir.

Van Stephen Harvey, 64

March 31, 2014

Van Stephen Harvey, 64, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, March 23, 2014, while vacationing in Cozumel, Mexico, with his family.

He was born Jan. 17, 1950, in Barnsboro, Pa., a son of Helen Ferensic Harvey Farmery and the late James Harvey.

On Dec. 8, 1973, he married Kay (Wehry) Harvey, who survives. They recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

He owned and operated Harvey’s Plumbing and Heating for the past 43 years in the Punxsutawney area.

He was an avid reader and loved history, especially the Civil War era.

Randy Wayne Harp, 56

Randy Wayne Harp, 56, of Milford, Del., formerly of Punxsutawney, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 28, 2014, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, Del.

Randy was born in Punxsutawney, the son of Olive (Kiehl) Harp and the late Wayne Harp.

He was a graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School in 1975 and graduated from Clarion State College in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree of science in education.

In September of 1980, Randy married the love of his life, Beverly Susan
Hetrick.

Terry "Rat" Smith, 65

Terry "Rat" Smith, 65, of Punxsutawney, died Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He was born April 30, 1948, in Punxsutawney, the son of the late Blair and Louise (Henneman) Smith.

He was married to the former Marian Troutman.

He was a truck driver.

He was a member of the Perry Township Fire Department and the Lindsey Fire Company.

He was a member of the Valier United Methodist Church.

William H. “Bill” Neville, 83

William H. “Bill” Neville, 83, Punxsutawney, died Saturday, March 29, 2014, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born Jan. 18, 1931, in Porter Township, Jefferson County, a son of the late Avery and Lola (McDonald) Neville.

On July 2, 1955, he married Patricia Ann (Sprankle) Neville, who preceded him in death on Oct. 25, 2007.

He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Punxsutawney.

Mr. Neville was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War.

Boyd “Mac” McElravy, 93

Boyd “Mac” McElravy, 93, of Duquesne, Pa., passed away peacefully at his son Jon’s home in White Oak, Pa., on Wednesday, March 26, 2014.

He was born Boyd Earl McElravy, Jr. in Corbettown, Jefferson County, Pa., near Timblin, on Nov. 26, 1920, to Boyd Earl, Sr. and Pearl (Himes) McElravy.

He was married to Maxine (Kagy) McElravy for 51 years, until her death in 1996.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Dean McElravy, and his sister, Kathryn Flynn.

Helen Louise Himes, 97

March 27, 2014

Helen Louise Himes slipped away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at King Community Hospital in Kane.

She was 97 years old. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She will be remembered for her love of life, beautiful "posies," fantastic cooking, story-telling, infectious laugh and generous loving heart.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Himes.

She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Coolspring.

She loved deer hunting, fishing and her flowers.

John S. Brink, 89

March 26, 2014

John S. Brink, 89, of Punxsutawney, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at his home.

Mr. Brink was born June 4, 1924, in Glen Campbell, a son of the late Stanley J. and Mary (Chacalla) Brink.

He is survived by his wife, Rose M. (Serian) Brink, of Punxsutawney.

He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army with the 955th Field Artillery Battalion as a field gunner.

He was a recipient of the Silver Star and five Bronze Battle Stars, including Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge.

Samuel W. Servey, 82

March 25, 2014

Samuel W. Servey, 82, of Punxsutawney, died Monday, March 24, 2014, at Mulberry Square.

He was born Oct. 25, 1931, in Clarion, a son of the late H.B. and Irene (Clark) Servey.

Mr. Servey was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict.

Sam worked as a salesman for Stoehman Bread for more than 22 years.

He enjoyed playing cards, watching college football, eating candy and collecting railroad memorabilia.

Larry Allen Martz, 50

March 24, 2014

Larry Allen Martz, 50, of Mayport, died suddenly on Sunday, March 23, 2014, near Hagarstown, Md., as the result of an automobile accident.

He was born Jan. 22, 1964, in Punxsutawney, a son of Mervin and Shirley (Smith) Martz.

He was married to Penny Marie Meckley on Sept. 25, 1993, in Ringgold.

He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Local 66 of the Operating Engineers.
