Charles T. Allessie, Sr., Punxsutawney, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
He was born March 17, 1935, in North East, Pa., a son of the late Louis and Florence (Guarino) Allessie.
On Oct. 4, 1957, he married Marcia (Sibley) Allessie.
He was a member of the Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church.
Mr. Allessie served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and then served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He then continued to serve in the U.S. Army and retired from the Army in 1976.
Gladys Catherine Chesley, 89, of Punxsutawney, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Mulberry Square.
Mrs. Chesley was born March 14, 1924, in Marchand, a daughter of the late Paul Luther and Anna Margaret (Henry) Brewer.
She was a member of the Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Gladys had previously worked at Rola Jensen, Murdock's and the Drive In.
She was kind-hearted and enjoyed raising her five children.
She was a huge country music fan.
John W. DeMotte a leading Brookville business and community leader for a half century, passed away peacefully at his home at 168 Euclid Ave., Brookville, on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at the age of 85.
He was born on Oct. 16, 1928, at his parentsâ€™ home on Euclid Avenue in Brookville.
The son of the late Arthur C. DeMotte and Gertrude Carberry DeMotte, he is survived by his wife of 64 years, Esther M. (Harding) DeMotte.
Lucille (Grusky) Lellock, 92, of Punxsutawney, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Mulberry Square.
Mrs. Lellock was born May 15, 1921, in Mahaffey, one of 10 children of the late Joseph and Margaret (Bienniasz) Grusky.
She was the last surviving member of her family.
She was a member of Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church.
On Feb. 7, 1942, she married Michael Lellock. He preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 2003.
She was a former cafeteria worker at Punxsutawney Area Junior High School for many years.
June Lasher, 87, DuBois, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.
She was born June 19, 1926, in Mossgrove, Pa., a daughter of the late George and Lena (Toy) Rebold.
On Nov. 24, 1944, she married Floyd L. Lasher, who preceded her in death on July 20, 1989.
She was a member of the Lakeside United Methodist Church in DuBois.
She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and spending time with her Kmart girls.
Mr. Albert R. Gretz, 81, of Punxsutawney, passed away Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
Al was born April 9, 1932, in Arnold, Pa., the eldest son of the late Albert R. Gretz, Sr., and Mary (Potocnak) Gretz.
On. Oct. 8, 1955, he married his loving wife, Phyllis A. (Murray) Gretz of Punxsutawney. She survives.
He was a member of Ss. Cosmas & Damian Church.
Al was a pharmacist and the co-owner of Stewartâ€™s Drug Store in Punxsutawney.
Robert B. "Bob" Henretta, 79, of Congress Street, Bradford, passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.
Born July 16, 1934, in Bradford, he was the son of the late Leo and Maxine (Bishop) Henretta.
On Jan. 10, 1953, in Olean, N.Y., he married Shirley (Groves) Henretta, who died on Aug. 22, 1993.
Mr. Henretta was a 1952 graduate of St. Bernard High School.
Mr. Henretta was a member of St. Bernard Church, the Don Raabe Big 30 All Star Committee and was on the Olean Times Herald All Star Selection Committee.
Ronald â€śPaulâ€ť Bussard, 87, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, 33 days after losing
his beloved wife of 66 years, Ruth I. (Stiteler) Bussard, whom he married Dec. 6, 1946, now reunited forever.
He was born Sept. 9, 1926, in Wayne Township, the son of Charles B. and Clara L. (Good) Bussard.
Paul was a resident of the Dayton area most of his life, having graduated from the Dayton Normal Institute in 1944.
H. Louise Vandervort, 65, of Sykesville, passed away, Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Mrs. Vandervort was born Nov. 8, 1948, in Bedford, a daughter of the late Genevieve and Bob Roach.
She is survived by her husband, Frank J. Vandervort. They were married on Nov. 3, 1965.
Louise loved to crochet, sew, play bingo and spend time with her family and her favorite dog, Spirit.
George C. Carey, 54, Rossiter, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Indiana Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 16, 1959, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late George J. and Audrey Claire (Painter) Carey.
On Dec. 24, 2011, he married Connie (Bair) Ryen Carey, who survives.
He worked as a Service Technician at KPM/Herkules Group in Ford City, Pa.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his Harley-Davidson and ATVs and family activities.
He was also a sponsor for Narcotics Anonymous for many years.
