Ruth L. Parise, 91, of Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Parise was born Nov. 27, 1921, in Homer City, a daughter of the late Lester Love and Edna (Dickey) Love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Parise, Sr.
They were married July 12, 1947.
Mrs. Parise was a member of the First Church of God, where she was a Sunday School teacher, member of the Women of the Church of God, choir member and Missionary Officer for many years.
Dolores "Dolly" S. Davis, 82, of Big Run, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at DuBois Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 31, 1931, in Cloe, a daughter of the late Rowland I. and Blanche (Baun) Smith.
On Oct. 8, 1949, she married Richard Davis. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1965.
Dolly previously worked as a bartender at the Punxsutawney Moose Club and at Little Canada.
She later worked as a clerk at JC Penney.
Melvin Leroy Hoffman, 91, Coolspring, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville.
He was born April 15, 1921, in Coolspring, a son of Lee Hoffman and Icie Hinderliter Hoffman.
In 1992, he married Ruth Elizabeth Jones, who survives.
Mr. Hoffman worked as a coal miner for R&P Coal Co.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the 14th Infantry, 71st Division, during World War II.
In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include three daughters and three sons, Lavonne Caylor (Lee) of Coolspring, Donald
Nancy Lee (Tuck) Chandler, 66, of Punxsutawney, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College, Pa.
She was born on May 4, 1947, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Charles and Susan (Hardy) Weiss.
She married Richard D. Tuck in November of 1963. He preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 2010.
She married James Chandler on Sept. 29, 2012. He survives.
She was a member of the Punxsutawney Eagles and the American Legion Auxiliary in Bellefonte, Pa., and in Punxsutawney.
She was also a member of the Undine Fire Company of Bellefonte.
Ronald E. (Ronnie) Watkins, 69, of Conneaut Lake, went to be with his Lord and Savior on his birthday, May 13, 2013, at the Marquette Hospice House.
He was born in Meadville, a son of Merle R. and Bessie K. Adams Watkins.
He married Sandra (Sandi) Saul on Sept. 16, 1995, at Watson Run Church of God, and she survives.
He worked for many years in steel fabrication and retired as a foreman at Excalibur Machine Co.
He was a graduate of Meadville High School and was a member of Watson Run Church of God.
Leila I. Smith, 81, Punxsutawney, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at Nelsonâ€™s Golden Years Personal Care Home in DuBois.
She was born Dec. 20, 1931, in Corbettown, Pa., a daughter of the late Homer and Irene (Miller) Geist.
She married Joseph M. Smith on March 22, 1951.
He preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1971.
She was Methodist by faith.
She enjoyed baking and cooking, quilting and spending time with family.
She was a homemaker and worked as a nurseâ€™s aide for two nursing homes.
Dorothy A. Miglicio, 85, of York, Pa., and formerly of Warren, Pa., died May 5, 2013, at 7:05 a.m. at Manor Care Health Services in Dallastown, Pa., York County.
Dorothy was the spouse of the late Francis A. Miglicio, who died in 2008.
She was born Aug. 21, 1927, in Punxsutawney, the daughter of the late Frank and Dora (Kaylor) Handyside.
Dorothy was a retired cashier for the Baltimore Life Insurance Co. in Warren, and she retired in 1988 after 30 years of service.
She was a 1945 graduate of Punxsutawney High School.
Helen E. Dinger, 70, of Grove City,previously of Harrisville, Pa., died Wednesday May 8, 2013, at Butler Memorial Hospital in Butler, Pa.
She was born on May 12, 1942, in Knox, Pa., a daughter of Warren C.
Shaffer and Emma A. (Reed) Shaffer.
She was a 1960 graduate of Keystone High School in Knox, Pa.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of West Unity Community Church in Harrisville, Pa.
Helen was a member of the Ladiesâ€™ Missionary Society of the church.
She enjoyed fishing with her husband, crossword puzzles, reading, bingo and playing cards.
Joan T. Bloom, 70, of Indiana, died Friday, May 3, 2013, at Beacon Ridge Nursing Home.
She was the daughter of the late Laird and Isabel (Keller) Hays and was born Aug. 14, 1942, in Coolspring, Pa.
Ms. Bloom enjoyed visiting family and friends, playing bingo, doing crafts and finding bargains at trade shows and yard sales with
her best friend, Nick Krisko.
She is survived by her five children, Rod Bloom of Punxsutawney, Kevin Bloom of Punxsutawney, Lisa Chesnoka of Winfield, Ala., Peggy Bloom of
Beavercreek, Ohio, and Mary Libecco of Mammoth Cave,Ky.
M. Elizabeth â€śLibbyâ€ť Esposito, of State College, formerly of Indiana, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at The Fairways at Brookline in State College.
A daughter of the late John B. and Margaret Duff Anibaldi, she was born in Punxsutawney.
Mrs. Esposito was a graduate of Punxsutawney High School.
Libby was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church.
She was a long-time dispatcher for Citizensâ€™ Ambulance Service, prior to 911, and when Bon-Ton opened, she was a sales associate in the housewares department.
