Thomas R. Zinzell, 88, of Wesleyville, Pa., passed away Friday, June 7, 2013, in Erie, Pa.
He was born July 1, 1924, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Michael and Mary Morris Zinzella.
Tom was an electrician, having worked for many contractors over the years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II.
Tom was a member of the American Legion and Eagles Club in Punxsutawney.
He enjoyed time with his family, especially his beloved granddaughter, Elizabeth.
Frances Esposito Stephens, 64, of Tarpon Springs, Fla., formerly of Punxsutawney, lost her courageous battle to cancer on Thursday, May 30, 2013.
Frances was born May 31, 1948, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of Connie
Esposito and the late Emilio (Curly) Esposito.
Following graduation from PAHS, Frances proceeded to Washington, D.C., where she worked at the Department of Transportation.
She then traveled and lived in many states managing restaurants, eventually owning and managing her own restaurant, â€śLa Siesta,â€ť in Punxsutawney.
Mary H. Neese, 86, Princeton, Ind., died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at The Waters of Princeton.
She was born Sept. 24, 1926, a daughter of the late Maggie (Geist) and Jerry Alcorn.
She was married to Walter Neese, who preceded her in death.
Larry B. Pennington, 61, of Rossiter, died Friday, June 7, 2013, at UPMC Montifiore Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born April 2, 1952, in Erie, a son of the late Walter Pennington and Fannie (Berringer) Pennington.
His mother survives and resides in Rossiter.
He was a 1970 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School.
He graduated at the top of his class from Westmoreland Business College.
On Oct. 30, 2011, he married Margaret DeRobertis. She survives.
Larry was a foster care provider.
He was an avid hunter and president of the Backdoor Outlaw Archery Club.
Dr. William Mark McKinley, 89, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013, in Brookville.
Dr. Mark was the last of a special generation of McKinley doctors who lived and practiced medicine in Brookville and had a deep impact on so many in the region.
To his family, his friends and his community, he will be remembered as a respected surgeon, a devoted family man and a lover of historic preservation, world history and travel.
As the youngest child of Dr. Arthur C. McKinley and Mary Cowan, Dr. Mark was born March 24, 1924, in Corsica and raised in Brookville.
After a gallant battle with neuroendocrine cancer, Jack Edward Elder, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence.
Born Aug. 28, 1933, in Bellefonte, Pa., he was the oldest son of the late Henry and Kathryn Elder.
He graduated from State College Area High School, attended Penn State and was an Army veteran of the Korean War Era, serving as a Sgt. in the Radio Operator Division.
On April 21, 1956, he married the former Peggy Morris.
Jack retired from Bell Telephone as a service manager in microwave and radio.
Darien A. Neal, 43, of Rossiter, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at home.
He was born July 2, 1969, in Punxsutawney.
Darien worked for Joe Hanley Construction.
He was a devoted and loving father to his son, Orion.
His enjoyment was playing baseball, and he absolutely loved fishing and hunting.
Darien was a kind and thoughtful man.
He made friends easily with his warm smile and gentle nature, he always spoke well of others, and he had many lifelong friends.
Ronald J. Vandervort, 68, Brookville, died Monday, June 3, 2013, at Brookville Hospital.
He was born June 26, 1944, in Brookville, a son of William Homer Vandervort and Rhoda Himes Vandervort.
Sept. 28, 1963, in Emerickville, Pa., he married Sandra Main, who survives.
Mr. Vandevort was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Vietnam Conflict from 1963-1967 on two vessels, the USS Champlain and the USS Independence.
He worked at Hawthorne Manufacturing in Hawthorne, Pa., Eljer in Ford City, Pa., and BevAir in Brookville.
David Lee Rossey, 52, Brookville, died Monday, June 3, 2013, in Brookville.
He was born Oct. 19, 1960, in Ramseytown, Pa., a son of Sheldon Dean Rossey, who survives, and the late Elizabeth A. â€śDannyâ€ť McQuown Rossey, who preceded him in death Dec. 5, 1990.
David was married to Sharon Reinsel, who survives.
He worked for Lloyd Smith's of Brookville for 30 years.
He was president of the Jefferson County Long Rifles Association and a trustee at Evangelical United Methodist Church in Brookville.
James Leroy Titler, 71, Northpoint, formerly of Punxsutawney, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013, at the home of his daughter, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Feb. 28, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio, a son of the late Kenneth Leroy and Roberta Jane (Miller) Titler.
On Oct. 1, 1960, he married the former Velva Louise Wood. She survives.
Mr. Titler was a member of Center Hill Community Church.
He was very dedicated to the church.
He was board president of the church, and his last project was overseeing the expansion of the church.
