Bessie Magill, 88,

Bessie Magill, 88, of Brookville, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Jefferson Manor.

She was born March 14, 1925, in Ohl, a daughter of the late Jacob and Mary H. (Raybuck) Reitz.

She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

In 1970, she married Paul E. Magill.

He preceded her in death on May 2, 1989.

Bessie worked at Jefferson Manor until her retirement in 1979.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Clair, Charles and William Reitz; and a sister, Anna Reitz.

William D. “Kelly” Hetrick, 89

William D. “Kelly” Hetrick, 89, a resident of Union Township, died on Saturday afternoon, April 27, 2013, at the Jefferson Manor in Brookville following an extended illness.

His family was his life.

A resident of Brookville most of his life, he was born in Coolspring, Pa., on Dec. 19, 1923, a son of the late Everett T. Hetrick and Mary G. Alcorn Hetrick.

William’s entire 40-year career was spent in the coal mining industry.

He retired in 1984 from C & K Coal Company (formerly W. P. Stahlman Coal Company), where he worked for 31 years as a Coal Preparation Plant Manager.

Kermit L. Knarr, 61

Kermit L. Knarr, 61, of Punxsutawney, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Mr. Knarr was born March 24, 1952, in DuBois, a son of the late Ralph Knarr and Geneva (Buhite) Knarr, who survives, of Reynoldsville.

He was married to Debbie Knarr, who survives, of Punxsutawney.

Kermit was employed for over 20 years for Tilcon before retiring.

He attended the First Church of God.

He loved hunting, hunting camp, fixing things, cars, and most of all, his grandchildren.

Dorothy D. “Dot” Perry, 90

April 26, 2013

Dorothy D. “Dot” Perry, 90, of Punxsutawney, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at home with her loving family.

She was born Oct. 9, 1922, in Dayton, Pa., a daughter of the late James and Lucinda (Hallman) Blose.

She married John D. Perry.

He preceded her in death on June 13, 2003.

Mrs. Perry was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Walston, Pa.

She worked as a study hall monitor at the Punxsutawney Area High School.

Her enjoyments were first and foremost her family, golf, reading, quilting, knitting and crossword puzzles.

Virginia Mae Walker, 79

April 25, 2013

Virginia Mae Walker, 79, Sykesville, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at DuBois Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

She was born Jan. 19, 1934, a daughter of the late Calvin and Della (Harold) Bishop.

Virginia married Glenn R. Walker on April 4, 1953. He survives and lives in Sykesville.

Arthur G. “Art” Edwards, 84

Arthur G. “Art” Edwards, 84, of Mars, formerly of Punxsutawney,
Reynoldsville, Sharon, St. Marys and Indiana, Pa, died on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born on June 4, 1928, in Home, Pa., Indiana County, he was the son of the late Giles Stephens and Luella Dick Edwards.

He was raised on a farm in Marchard, Pa., in Jefferson County and graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1946.

He honorably served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army Motorcycle Military Police Division in Western Germany from 1950 to 1953.

James Stephen Lesnick, 57

James Stephen Lesnick, 57, of Pompano Beach, Fla., passed away at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Mr. Lesnick was born on Oct. 10, 1955, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Francis D. and Caroline (Walchack) Lesnick.

He was a 1973 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School and a 1977 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in hotel management. He was also a member of St. Pious Roman Catholic Church in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Mr. Lesnick held the position of concierge at the Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Mark Gallaher, 46

Mark Gallaher, 46, of Glen Campbell, formerly of Punxsutawney, died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at his residence.

Born Nov. 9, 1966, in Spangler, Pa., he was the son of the late James Gallaher and Vivian (McCoy) Gallaher.

He was a logger by trade.

Gallaher is survived by a son, Joshua Gallaher of Rossiter; a daughter, Kayla Weakland of Cherry Tree; two granddaughters, Layla Riley Weakland
and Cameron Briel Gallaher; and two sisters, Nancy Rudy of Millersville and Caroline Atte of Pittsburgh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Justin Gallaher.

Terry Allen Graul, 62

Terry Allen Graul, 62, of Allentown, died Friday, April 19, 2013, in Pocono Medical Center, Monroe County.

He was the husband of Dorrie V. (Voorhis) Graul. They celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary on July 23, 2012.

Born in Punxsutawney, he was the son of the late Earl Henery and Evelyn Mae (Bennett) Graul.

He was a 1968 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School.

For the last 13 years, Terry had been a truck driver for CPC Logistics in Allentown.

A member of Trout Unlimited, Terry was an avid fly fisherman. He loved the outdoors, camping and fishing for trout.

Cyrilla C. Himes, 78

Cyrilla C. Himes, 78, of Youngstown, Ohio, formerly of Covode, Pa., passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown.

Cyrilla was born on Feb. 23, 1935, in Covode, the daughter of Ralph and Catherine (Beck) Jordan. She married Earl Himes on May 21, 1955. He survives.

Cyrilla was a graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School. She worked at
Nelson Bedding in Youngstown, Ohio, for many years.
