James Wesley Hockin, 92, of Indiana, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013.
The son of Percival and Adah (Bassett) Hockin, he was born Sept. 20, 1920, in DuBois.
After moving to Punxsutawney, Jim attended Punxsutawney High School and graduated in 1938.
Jim was employed in the coal industry all his life. In 1950, he moved to Greene County, where he was employed by Duquesne Light Mining for 19 years. He moved to Indiana in 1969, where he was employed by R & P and the federal government as an inspector for MSHA. He retired in 1983 from the Mine Safety and Health Administration.
Joseph Ralph Hill, 78, of Rossiter, died Monday, July 29, 2013, at Mulberry Square in Punxsutawney.
He was born March 12, 1935, in Punxsutawney, the son of the late Harry and Flora (Pollock) Hill.
He was married first to Hazel Fleeger, who preceded him in death. He then married Joyce Stewart Hill, who survives.
He was an automotive mechanic by trade.
He was a member of the Laurel Lake Seventh Day Adventist Church in

Joseph Ford of S. Gilpin Street in Punxsutawney died on July 2, 2013.

Services will be held at Eagles Alarm Ministry, 212 Mahoning St., Punxsutawney, on Aug. 18 at 4 p.m.
Ruth E. Beck, 86, Punxsutawney, died on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at home.
She was born July 16, 1927, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Daniel and Isabel (Nicholson) Kromer.
She was married to the late Wayne B. Beck for 63 years and was a lifelong resident of Punxsutawney. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2009.
She loved gardening and being outdoors.
She worked for 19 years in the office of Dr. L.R. McCauley and for 11 years in the office of Dr. George Cherian. She was a Meals-on-Wheels volunteer for over 10 years.
Lorraine Mable Eminhizer, 87, of Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Laurelbrooke Landing in Brookville.
She was born Dec. 21, 1925, in Mill Hall, Pa., the daughter of the late Oran Frederick and Anna (Moore) Bodle.
She was married to John Roland Eminhizer on Oct. 22, 1941, in Mill Hall, Pa.
She was an accountant and worked at several firms, including Barrish Advertising of State College, Pa.
Fred E. Bell Jr., 67, went home to be with the Lord after a four-year battle with cancer.
Born to Fred E. Bell Sr. and Mary Alice Bell on Jan. 10, 1946, he spent most of his childhood in Punxsutawney and Pittsburgh.
He met his wife, Kathy, in Pittsburgh, and they were married Dec. 2, 1973.
In 1978, the couple moved to Mansfield, Ohio, where Fred worked for General Motors for 29 years and retired July 1, 2006.
Fred and Kathy retired to Arizona in 2010.
He was an avid hunter, could fix almost anything, enjoyed helping his friends and never expected anything in return.
Donald W. Buffington, 79, of Winter Haven, Fla., passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at The Heart of Florida Hospital after enduring a courageous 10-year battle with cancer.
He was formerly of Cogan Station, Pa.
He was born on May 25, 1934, in Beaver Township, Pa., the son of Dalton and Mary (Burkett) Buffington.
Donald was the husband of Elizabeth (Betty) Buffington. They would have observed their 59th wedding anniversary on Sept. 16, 2013.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Tank Division of the 29th Infantry at Fort Benning, Ga., from 1955 to 1957.
Michael A. "Mike" Larko, 98, of Penn Hills, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Ligonier Gardens.
Mike was the beloved husband of the late Margaret J. Larko; the father of John Larko, of Leechburg, Pa., Michael J. (Marsha) Larko, of Plum, Pa., Rev. Ronald Larko, of Uniontown, Pa., Thomas (Karen) Larko, of Punxsutawney, Anna (John) Maier, of New Florence, Pa., Patricia (Ed) Morris, of Turtle Creek, Pa., and the late Robert G. Larko; the grandfather of 16; and the great-grandfather of 11. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Alice Mary OâDell, 58, of Indiana, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at her home.
She was born in 1954 in Punxsutawney to Mark and Bertha Froese Anthony.
Alice attended Grace United Methodist Church and was a member of the Indiana Arts Assoc.
As a Master Gardner, she enjoyed her membership in the Indiana Garden Club.
She was employed by First Commonwealth Bank for 18 years in the data processing department and finished her career as a vice president.
Lyle A. "Zoog" Welsh, 79, of Big Run, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at DuBois Nursing Home.
He was born near Big Run on Feb. 13, 1934, the son of the late Roy James "Gabe" Welsh and Anna Lee (Davis) Welsh.
On July 3, 1954, he married the former Wilma "Billie Jo" Haag. She survives.
Mr. Welsh served in the United States Army in the Signal Corp as a field radio repairman in New Jersey and Puerto Rica during the Korean Conflict.
He received an honorable discharge in 1956.
He was a retired setup man for Rockwell Manufacturing and Invensys at the DuBois plant.
