Harry Edward Smith, 63

Harry Edward Smith, 63, of Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa.

He was born Jan. 27, 1950, in Indiana, Pa., a son of the late Ord and Nora Leona (Dishong) Smith.

He was a mechanic by trade.

He was married to Jean (McMillin) Smith, who survives.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a sergeant during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of the American Legion.

Daniel C. Gresock, 59

Daniel C. Gresock, 59, Uniontown, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013.

He was born July 23, 1953, in Hollidaysburg, a son of the late Daniel B. Gresock and Elaine (Deeley) Gresock.

He was severely injured in 1970 as a result of an automobile accident. At the time, he was a senior at Hollidaysburg High School.

He previously resided in Punxsutawney, Anita and Warren.

He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hollidaysburg.

Surviving relatives include a sister-in-law, Cheryl

Daniel C. Gresock, 59, Uniontown, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013.

He was born July 23, 1953, in Hollidaysburg, a son of the late Daniel B. Gresock and Elaine (Deeley) Gresock.

He was severely injured in 1970 as a result of an automobile accident at the time he was a senior at Hollidaysburg High School.

He previously resided in Punxsutawney, Anita and Warren.

He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hollidaysburg.

Scott Reitz, 66

Scott Reitz, 66, passed away on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, after fighting a courageous battle with ALS.

He was born in Brookville, on July 3, 1946, a son of Ruby and Donald Reitz, and was lovingly raised by his paternal grandparents, Effie Cora and Clair Reitz.

He graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1965 and always thought Groundhog Day should be a national holiday.

He served in the Army Reserves from 1966-72.

Completing meat-cutting school in Toledo, Ohio, he then began his career with the Golden Dawn stores.

Barbara Lucille (Bell) Heitzenrater, 83

Barbara Lucille (Bell) Heitzenrater, 83, of Punxsutawney, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born March 15, 1929, in Potter County, a daughter of the late Walter D. Lightner and Marian Bell.

On Jan. 22, 1948, she married Ray Curry Heitzenrater.

He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1988.

She attended the First Assembly of God Church and really loved going to church.

She enjoyed cooking at holiday times and being with her family and grandchildren.

Barbara was a member of the Moose 954 and Slovak Club.

She really liked to Polka dance.

The Rev. William C. Summers, Jr., 91

The Rev. William C. Summers, Jr., was born to eternal life on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013.

He spent 91 years on this earth and was loved by many whose lives he blessed.

Rev. Summers was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Charleston W. Va., to William and Latitia Summers, who preceded him in death.

Also preceding him were his first wife, Eava Elizabeth Carrico; his daughter, Letitia Ru Peace; and six brothers and sisters.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Kathryn R. Good Summers, of Old Hickory, Tenn; a son, William and wife Patricia of Old Hickory,

Lewella J. "Sally" Minick, 84

Lewella J. "Sally" Minick, 84, Brookville, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 25, 1929, in Stanton, Pa., a daughter of Ran Sowers and Sidney Enterline Sowers.

She was married to Melvin M. Minick, who preceded her in death Dec. 20, 1981.

Mrs. Minick worked for Sylvania and Whitebrook in Brookville, and she retired as an LPN from Jefferson Manor in Brookville after many years.

She was a past member of the Calvary Church of the Nazarene in Brookville.

Albert A. “Cowboy” Zanaglio, 92

Albert A. "Cowboy" Zanaglio, 92, of Punxsutawney, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Zanaglio was born April 18, 1920, in Florence, a son of the late Bartlow Zanaglio and Julia (Cappa) Zanaglio.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Zanaglio was preceded in death by his wife, Marie (Debeck) Zanaglio.

He was a member of Ss. Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church.

He worked 38 years for the B & O Railroad before retiring, and he was a member of the Punxsutawney Eagles.

Joseph Martin Freno, 85

January 25, 2013

Joseph Martin Freno, of Chesterland, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at the Cleveland Clinic.

The son of Michael and Mary (Snyder) Freno, Joe was born on March 17, 1927, in Gipsy, Indiana County, Pa.

A lifelong outdoorsman and sports fan, Joe was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of St. Anselm Catholic Church.

He was married to Dorothy (Roy) Freno for 61 years.

Joe had three children and four grandchildren and is survived by a sister, Maryann Nemergut.

Marsha J. Steele, 66

Marsha J. Steele, 66, of Punxsutawney, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at home with her family.

She was born Nov. 27, 1946, in East Brady, a daughter of the late Ralph and Doretha (Hillwig) Shelly.

On June 20, 1964, she married Melvin Dean Steele, who preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 2012.

Marsha worked in the deli at County Market, and she had previously worked at Mahoning Furnace.

She enjoyed riding horses, gardening and sewing.
